I was about to get in truck this morning to run a few errands, and of out blue I get this:

"Engine Coolant Over Temperature"

No leaks under the truck, nothing. My guess it could be a sensor or connection somewhere. Does anyone know where to look before I'll have dealer to pick it up.

This will be my 4th trip to Ford for warranty service. And that's with only 4342 miles on the odometer!

I guess I would look and make sure there is coolant in the tank. Either way, sounds like a trip to the dealer.

Scheduled an appt for Monday. Good thing they offer free pick-up and delivery.

I was hoping to see if there is a connector I can check, so I don't have to be without a car for a few days.

Mine did this once. It was obviously a sensor error since it happened when I just started the truck. I just restarted and it corrected. Hasn’t happened again (about a year later).

Did it gradually increase to 261 degrees or just spike immediately? If you don’t have any observable symptoms such as low coolant, boiling over, or leaks, it’s most likely a faulty ECT sensor. It looks like it also set a CEL, so the PCM May have a DTC for erratic/correlation error.

The issue on my end was corrected after getting truck towed to the dealer.

After they did their part, the issue hasn't appeared back

Discovered: Faulty CHT Sensor
Solution: Sensor replaced by the dealer
