Trails/Off-road in near Arkansas

i know for sure at least one person on this board has gone, with their truck, within the last year.

Arkansas is a hidden gem for offroad exploring. The Ozark NF offers 1.2 million acres, Buffalo National River 135 sq/mi, Ouachita NF is 1.7 million acres; Both the Ouachita's and the Ozarks offer thousands of miles of forest roads and 4x4 trails. The only issue with Arkansas is the trail widths, many trails are jeep and sxs trails. I have explored hundreds of miles of Arkansas in my landcruiser but many of my favorite trails will not handle a truck as wide as a Raptor without having major pinstriping.

If you want to just ride some great forest service roads and have some awesome camp spots, Arkansas is worth the trip. if camping, Be mindful though of spring time river levels as many Arkansas trails require water crossings and I've seen rivers rise 10 feet in a few hours.

Would like to know of trails or nice off-road scenic areas to explore as well. We’re in NWA.

I’m in NWA also. We’ve got several UTV trails nearby but I haven’t found anything yet I’d be comfortable taking the raptor down without scratching it up.

edit to add: Rush Springs Ranch is probably the closest. They do have a few wide open sections but I wouldn’t do any high speed driving for fear of hitting someone. We UTV there.

I see this thread as if, someone from Anchorage asking where is a good place to ride a snowmobile. LOL! I guess I just assumed the grass was greener down there after all the time we spend on motorcycles at The Hub.

We went exploring yesterday and actually found a nice little mud trail just East of Winfrey, AR. Just after coming out of a number of switchbacks a trail started to the North. We probably went 2-3 miles in and turned around.

Not being from here originally it’s so hard to know if you’re on someone’s land or if it’s just a logging or power line trail.

Live in Central AR, I just went out to Ouachita NF this past weekend. It's mostly dirt/gravel roads but there are some tighter trails off the beaten path with mud and washouts. My first time taking the Gen1 out (just bought it) and was alone so I didn't do anything crazy. Would love to go with a group if anyone wants to meet up sometime.

Yes that was a concern for me. We do have a ton of great scenery in the “Natural State” so figured there would be some great trails in the Ozarks however everything looks more geared towards jeeps and Utvs.

Just got back from the Ozarks two weeks ago... fire roads are slim and definitely added some stipes to my truck, but I knew that going in... my phone doesn't want to add photos but it was a good 12 day trip

I'm in central too, just started exploring Winona WMA for deer season, interested in finding more places to go and group runs...
