He is over the payload by 400 lbs and the towing capacity by 1300 lbs, so I would say he is outside the limits of his truck. The Timberen bump stops are doing their job, but I doubt it will ride very good when empty. If he gets in accident, I am sure his insurance company will decline his coverage.

"the suspension is still working", ummm, no its not, the ass end is sitting on the bumps and there's only 4" of travel left in the shocks. This guy is a moron.

I have to agree. I was also very impressed that at 4:30 he checks how much the truck sagged from loading the trailer while the trailer was still on it's front jacks. Then he "tested the turning" with the trailer still on it's front jacks. Too much stupid to even go through the rest.

I like his moxy. His accent and nasally voice make it seem like he knows what he's talking about.

I won't get into whether it's safe or not much, but as long as he can reach down and squeeze the trailer brakes, if he has a controller, he is probably okay if he can lock up the trailer brakes when needed. The brake controller can straighten any load up when activated without the truck brakes.
As far as the timbrens go, I had them on a Ram 2500 and they basically take the load and ride at full contact when hooked to a heavy trailer. The ride sucked, but they work as advertised.
If you stop and look around, there are people dragging all kinds of stupid shit on work trailers, way overloaded, on lifted trucks with lift blocks, bald tires, you name it.

I know it doesn't make it right, but it is possible, and done every day.

most other trucks have at least 2 extra leafs in their rear springs. This guy is an idiot for posting fake ideas to unsuspecting followers. I have no problem speaking up for those that don't know better.

True, but the timbren bump stops are carrying most of the pin load now. In the real world, it's just another overloaded truck, like thousands of others. 5th wheels are very forgiving, as long as the trailer brakes can stop the trailer, sway is not really an issue. Assuming the hitch is mounted forward of the rear axle, there will be added weight on the truck front axle. If it was a long ass bumper pull with 3 slide outs, I would say it's wholesale unsafe.
Someone posted that the rear is over payload by 400 lbs. I'm not saying it's preferable, but I personally, don't see it as a ticking time bomb. Just my 2 cents.

I lit him up on Facebook. I have zero time for people who don't know the towing rules. They are there for a reason. They harshly penalize truckers who show up overloaded, so why should normal people not have the same? If they have a blowout and you are heading opposite direction, you want to play the will he end up in our lane and hit you head on or not? Corona is right, people like him and you apparently are passing really bad advice around that some may see and think its right. It's not. Towing is a serious business and it is up to each individual to know their vehicle, the tow rig and any numbers that pertain to it.

That dude is probably at least 400 and maybe more overweight on his payload. My guess, he said ours so that means a family and all that comes with that. He may actually, be close to 800 pounds overweight. That is extremely, extremely dangerous..5th wheel or not.

Fair enough.

Back in 1999, I bought a brand new Dodge Cummins dually with an auto transmission. The stated tow rating was around 9000 lbs. I didn't realize it til after I bought it, didn't stop me from dragging around anything I hitch it to. Safely, in my opinion.

My point, the ratings are what they ratings are, but in practice, it's more of a guide for the average idiot. Remember, we see people driving in cars alone wearing a face mask.

I am more worried about a mom in a minivan coming the opposite way with bald tires on a rainy day than some guy that overloaded his truck. Just me.
