I have always wondered why a Raptor can not have the rear locked in 2wd? I have had other vehichicles that I had just locked the and it also allowed me to play around more to my driving style drifting through turns in the sand and other off roading, it made things more of a challenge trying to climb up hills in rear wheel drive and then having to engage 4wd if needed

What does a standard 4wd F-150 and Standard 2wd F-150 offer as far as a locking rear differential option? Ford worried that Raptor owners will be spinning the splines off the axles if they can lock them in 2wd?

Same as the Raptor; higher GCWR F-150's use the corporate 9.75" with the electronic locker.

I don't get it either. Even our 2wd Harley Edition has it even though it's probably got the lowest tow and load capacity of any F150 ever.

The SPE kit shipped so I should have feedback here in the next week or so.

Tell us if it works. It looks like it is for the F150, non Raptor. I want it if it works on your Gen 2 Raptor!

After spending some time installing and messing with this kit I've determined the best route is to just use one of the built in Auxillary switches instead.

No MIL and no warnings when hooked up but having an indicator when engaged would be nice.

So that said tomorrow I'll remove this kit and tie one of the Factory Aux switches capable of 8amps to the Brown/Violet wire that feeds the Diff Locker and run it that way instead.

Now I need to figure out those circuits and how they work and where they go...

Edit: FWIW, I was being gracious above and trying not to say the SPE kit did not work correctly. This is why I investigated a more simple solution for our trucks. Calls and emails for tech support at SPE have been ignored.

Strange that SPE would sell a kit that sends 12v down the wire with just a relay (That's all it is) and the internet is not blown up with fried E-lockers. There is no PWM or voltage drop it's always 12v.

I don't doubt the TCCM drops the voltage, my question is was it just a power management thing. These new vehicles have to conserve energy where ever possible for fuel economy and alternator maxed out output reasons.

Ok. No more one-wheel-peel in 2wd.

Hooked the Diff to Aux switch 3 and it works perfectly. Able to fry both tires at the same time now.

Going into the mud tomorrow so we'll see how long it lasts.

If it frys I'll replace it with an Eaton Aftermarket unit that is designed to take 12v all of the time. (That is of course if they are actually different.)

$75 K for a truck that's supposed to be capable off road and we still have to deal with a Nanny like this. Uggh.
