As soon as I grow a pair of balls to use the OBD port plug I bought and try forscan to fold the mirrors, then and only then will I reread this thread for the solution you are looking for.
What are you? A Raptor driver, or a driver of some peasant bmw?
You can do this.... but please, take videos and post to youtube :-D
Same. I’ve had the thing sitting here for months. Also haven’t turned my laptop on for longer than that. My work computer won’t let me install drivers and stuff so things like this takes me a long time.
ok, so I’ve been kinda quiet on the FORSCAN front for a bit because in my recent move, my cheap, amazon for scan only tablet got ... lost... along the way. Fer the luv a’ Christ if they wanted it that bad, they needed it more than me. But, this was the only windows computer in my abode and as with you, my work computers wouldn’t allow FORSCAN. This set me upon an odyssey of internet worthy proportions. First, I ordered what I thought was a good enough replacement because the cheap forscan tablet is no longer available.
WRONG. I bought a tablet running the restricted tablet os that won’t let you install non windows app store applications. UGH. sent it back. Ordered a tablet from Newegg. They cancelled my order. Went searching locally - NOTHING available under $700. I am not paying that much money for a windows computer. I just won’t. SO, finally, I up my threshold to $300. I find many, many laptops available refurbished, but sadly Amazon is still the best choice... so ok, I order it, get it and figure that’s done and dusted, right? WRONG. the computer shipped with the wrong power cord. It’s still sitting in the box, awaiting the proper power cord to charge the damn thing.
All this, to turn off the annoying do-do-do-chime.... Because once in a while the DSR1 from my stereo upgrade gets confused when the chime are going off and when audio is restored it’s restored at max volume for about .5 seconds. so yeah, the chimes need to go, but they won’t go because apparently I am doomed to not be able to have another FORSCAN capable device...
I completely get the apprehension about plugging a computer into your $70k truck's OBDII port and changing shit. I felt it too. But seriously, if you follow the youtube video demos in the Forscan tutorial document, it is super simple.
Measure twice. Cut once. Blame
@DINOZR when it all goes to $hit. This is a solid game plan for FORSCAN upgrades. ;-)
Example: I haven't heard a door ajar chime or seatbelt minder chime or startup chime (the 3 "do-do-do" sounds) in months.
Rub it in why don’t you?
