jrz that’s interesting, what are the specs?
can a 2.5 compete with a 3?

Depends. All other things equal, the 3.0 and 2.5 will perform exactly the same, but the 3.0 will allow more energy/heat to be dissipated than the 2.5- so it's really a time based thing. The larger 3.0s can take more punishment before their performance degrades from too much heat.

Back to "all others things equal" - Not all shocks are created the same either, so you can't just go by the diameter. Internal vs external bypass affects the volume inside of each, so a 3.0 internal bypass shock may not have any more thermal dissipation capabilities than a 2.5 with an external bypass and/or reservoir.

The videos of the suspension working never gets old for me...

I think a lot of times people get caught up on size as an end all beats all. Hey it does matter though right? All I can say is that the JRZ has been amazing for us, way better than i ever thought a dual purpose (street/trail) damper could be. Damper development is what I do for a living so standards are pretty high!

If we were selling/planning on marketing towards a BAJA/Drakar style competitive race market we would increase thermal capacity for sure. But we simply don't need to for what we are trying to accomplish. Quite simply an amazing street ride that can handle the big stuff on the weekend. It accomplishes that exact same goal with amazing results and it is dead quiet! When we designed it we looked at everything and packaging along with factory components was a huge deal. Same philosophy we carry on the armored division.

I randomly came across a picture of what looks like your truck on a flat bed. If it is/was yours, what in the heck happened?
