Undercover Swing Case

Hey guys,
Has anyone ever used this undercover swing case in their vehicles? I think I’d rather use this over an underwear storage to keep the interior cleaner,
As all I really store are tools, tow ropes, oil and a tow hitch and some safety gear.

My only concern is how durable are these things? And also how have you guys liked them overall? If I were to off-road with this inside will the mount break or bend and end up causing a bigger issue? I just want to make sure it’s strong enough to handle some abuse.I don’t want it to snap off and fly around in my bed after a couple jumps or something

I’ll be adding a spray in bedliner and tonneau cover tomorrow, and this caught my eye last minute.

Had one on my 17 super duty and it cracked. They are made of plastic and not very durable. If you don’t put anything remotely heavy in them, they may last but I had some heavy jumper cables, a hitch hook and some tow straps in mine and the weight caused the plastic to crack around the metal rod that locks into the bedside mount. If you do any off-roading, they won’t last a day.

Same here, I had them in my previous F250 SD. One last fine since I only had a tow strap and jumper cables in it. The other loaded with tools didn't fair so well. Between the bouncing around and getting hit in the bed they were cracked and fell off in about 6 months. I ended up replacing both with a pair of custom made aluminum boxes that were under the rail and in the same space, they didn't swing out but had drawers that pulled out.

I had a set for my Gen 1 and I ended up getting a set for my Gen 2. I like them for the storage. I keep tools, tow straps, emergency kit and a few other things. I don't keep them on for any serious off road driving. They have worked for me fine. Plus the truck responds a bit better in the snow/wet with a little weight in the bed over the rear axle. The Gen 1 bracket bent after a few years so it was harder and harder to swing out, but I managed. The Gen 2 version seems upgraded a bit, have had them over a year and they are still good. I can see them breaking with any off road use.

Any issues with installation with a Gen 2?? I understand the rear light has to be removed?

I have a Swing Out Case on the passenger side of my truck, and so far I like it (only 6ish months). I used my FordPass Points to buy the toolbox. I like that it fits under the tonnau cover. Only time will tell if it stands up to the day to day use the truck gets. I'm never going to jump my truck (at least not on purpose), and most of the "off roading" this truck will see is forest service roads. If you're somewhere that you get a lot of speed and jumps, it might be a different result.

I have used in multiple vehicles & currently have in my raptor

best toolbox for my needs & not even close- so easy to pull out, 2 of em on either side hold a lot of gear & they are weather tight & can be secured to the bed as well as locked themselves


I didn’t bother reading anyone else’s posts but here’s the one thing you need to know/do if you buy one (I’ve had in 3 trucks now) - you need to get some stainless steel hardware (nuts/bolts/washers) & use them wherever you can to secure the frame to the bed b/c the self tapping screws they come w/ aren’t sturdy enough especially in a raptor if you offroad at all- they’ll spin or back out & you WILL want to exceed the “weight capacity” which isn’t an issuer if use sturdier hardware.

can access the back side of the bed side from underneath or if you wanna get real cute remove the tail light.

I put 80 lbs worth of crap in it hasn’t budged an inch.

not sure why anyone would take one of these off roading to begin with. Pretty obvious it isn't designed for that.

It's to hold light crap. easy to install, easy to take off.

keep it light duty and it's fine

The only issue I had with them is that if you have anything in the back of the bed......you have to move it so it can swing around.
