Seems like the RAMf*gs have the competition on their mind a whole awful lot lately. Isn’t this the second Easter egg now? Again, it’s done poorly and overall in an immature fashion that appeals directly to the mouth breathing perpetual man-children who waste money on the brand, but still.

I think they’re getting worried based on all the boisterous chest thumping they’re doing.

Ford set the bar high with the 1st and 2nd Gen Raptor. I’m just hoping the HP wars carry over and we see a V8 in the next gen Raptor. The TRX has thrown down the HP Hammer, and I have a hunch Ford will respond.

I hope Ford is more balanced than just throwing HP at it, and try to make the truck overall much better.
Overall the TRX didn’t really raise much of my interest, despite the early excitement about all those useless HP and the V8 sound. I will say though there are a couple of subtle changes on the TRX that I’d like to see on the next Gen raptor, particularly in the suspension department:
- The TRX has metal-braided shock reservoir tubes. Those crack & break on the raptor when off-roading, which is why people do this aftermarket
- The live-valve reservoirs are mounted behind parts of the front frame towards the center of the truck, not next to the shock like with the raptor

I learned a good marketing lesson years ago. If the competition compares themselves to you, then they're suggesting you're the best and the one to beat. If you compare yourself, you're not confident enough in your product standing on its own. If you're the best, you don't need to compare yourself to others. Simply continue delivering what the customer wants and tout your features, without comparing your product to others. People will get it. If the TRX is truly competition to the Raptor, then why didn't they set up mules to run the Baja 1000 and prove that a "production" truck can run and finish the race. Hmm. Maybe they're not confident enough. It's great to have competition. It brought us the Mustang 500. How's that working out FCA?
