Tell me more or point me in the right direction please. Does this void the warranty and drop our mpg to single digits? How does it impact sound? I love my truck but wish it was a bit more throaty sounding.

I prefer JDM tuning personally. It can void the warranty, but it is moderately safe, that is a risk you take modifying a vehicle. You will get the same gas mileage roughly, possibly better.

It wont really impact sound. Sound is a big thing on these trucks, its something I hear comments on the most, which to me is odd. A lot of people mess with the exhaust, but I think that is the wrong path. There is NO WAY to make this sound like a V8, and to me, why bother? It isnt one. It is a twin turbo V6! The way to go is make the turbos louder. I say, add an intake (I run AFE), add a BOV, (I use turbo smart). Now you hear the glorious turbo sounds like it was meant to be! If youre feeling froggy, do some downpipes (wish I had the cash for these).

Good words.
What difference is a tune vs just selecting sport mode? Read a good C&D article where they used premium fuel to add performance across the board. Do you run premium or have to with the tune?
Thanks

A tune changes all the parameters to increase power. Sport mode just changes shift points and maybe some suspension settings, nothing more for power from the motor. A tune will add power, whether it be timing advancing, octane optimizing, increasing boost, optimizing mods, etc. Different tuners adjust parameters differently. Goosetuned is my preference and he has many happy end users on this forum.

I made the jump from a tundra trd pro to a 2019 supercab. This truck is amazing and so fun to drive. I’ve added a Cobb access port-93 tune, Mishimoto intercooler, ams inlet tubes, rocky ridge fogs, 2018 beadlocks, afe intake. The access port claims I did 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. I love this truck. 34E45D82-F660-43B1-9D18-AE556B74981C.jpeg15E3962C-D061-4BAF-868E-DD2488F8D820.jpeg73DFBD51-D4F5-466A-BA05-0BD2A11E5A8A.jpeg

Welcome, I too just stepped up from my third (2013) Tacoma and Three previous Toyota's, a gen 2, a Hilux turbo diesel while stationed in a Japan and an 83' SR5 prior to that. Indestructible vehicles (except for one I blew up in Iraq with a 500lb LGB) I had been eyeing Raptors for awhile as well as Tundra TRD Pros, not unnoticed by my better half who loved my Tacoma's but hurt Her back on long hauls. On our anniversary this year while working in the yard a Leadfoot gray 18' Raptor pulled up my driveway with my name on it. For once I'm speechless...so far I love this beast, no wonder people like them so much. I haven't seriously got it dirty, yet. However, I took it into deep mud behind my place where tractors fear to tread, no worries. This thing Rocks!

while I’ve owned a couple Toyota’s in my life & they do have a SOMEWHAT deserved rep for reliability...when I see “auto replies” about “Toyota reliability” like this I always Feel the need to mention it’s kinda like calling an H1 hummer “reliable”....I mean yeah, Ford/dodge/GM/Nissan/Honda- all of em could also make super reliable SUV/trucks too....if they toiled over a design for 10 years then Debuted it & didn’t change an F’n thing for another 15 nor made even the faintest attempt to “keep up w/ the competition”

the 2020 Toyota Tundra Is a 2005/6 design that debuted in 2007. It’s the same thing.

weak ass lethargic engines

archaic transmissions lacking gears

no torque

no finesse

No innovation

No fully boxed “real” truck frame

Ugly as sin

horrible MPG

and they rust.

congrats on buying a 2007 I mean 2020 Tundra/Tacoma.

best thing they got going for em? The rear window glass rolls down.

oh....and I owned one....

hello all, So I recently grabbed a 2019 802a Raptor, and so far so good. To tell you a bit about myself, I've been a Tacoma nut for quite some time. Just sold my '07 2nd gen that I bought new.
:( was a bit rough letting her go, especially when you slowly built it up over the years. As a truck enthusiasts, and im sure you all will agree, we are always checking out rides. I knew I was going to pick up something newer, but nothing was really popping. Safe road was to go get a new Tacoma or even jump to a 4 runner... Raptors have always caught my eye tho. But I would talk you all down, like where are they [raptor owners] going. You don't need that, yada-yada-yada. Then I thought about it and I started saying "they can go anywhere they damn well please " lol, so yes im in and glad I took the jump.
I already ordered my ditch lights from bd and let the fun begin...
Look forward to the fourm, I have been reading your conversations over the last month. Looks like great help. Thanks guys
Welcome! I also came from a Taco and loved them as well. The TRD Pro’s catch my eye if I were to ever go back but the raptors are absolutely great!

I too, went from a Tacoma to the Raptor in 2017. I had my share of Tacoma's ( 4 of them to be exact, '06,'10, '13,'16 ) love them all but like Badertits said nothing changes and they are all stay the same inside and out with little change, Boring!!!. When I got my Raptor, the Raptor got better gas milage then all of my Tacomas, better milage, better looking, more space, WAY better performance then the Tacomas. I installed the Cobb stage 2 tune with intercooler, intake system and a Ford/Borla stainless exhaust. Milage went to 15.5 mpg and got around 19 on freeways! I never see more then 14 MPG on any of my Tacomas. I get less milage now with all the overlanding gears I installed on the Raptor, but it is what it is! My buddy Tacoma with all the overlanding gears on gets 12 MPG! You will love your Raptor! Welcome.
