Does anyone know if there is a setting to force 4A mode when switching to either "Normal" or "Sport" drive mode?

By default both of those modes go into 2H, and I definitely would prefer to have those mode switch to 4A instead.

No, but I did learn this by nearly spinning the truck around a turn.

Nobody has fess’d up to this, it’s probably too complicated to program out. The NavTV folks did have a ‘last drive mode memory’ module, but they stopped selling it because it wasn’t 100% reliable.

The issue is the accursed “drive modes”. When you flip up the drive mode selection, the truck has no options to retain the transfer case setting or alter the transfer case setting. The only saving grace is that the transfer case doesn’t change from the ignition cycle, so if you shut down in selected 4a sport, the truck wakes up in 4a normal(eco) mode.

You can use a pedal commander and auto stop/start eliminator and you need sport mode about 85% less. Or, you can select manual shift mode as needed and de-select when you’re done.

It would be great if, like motorcycles that cost 1/5 what a Raptor does, Ford would allow some tailoring to the drive mode default values. Like making 4a the default sport t/c setting, with an option to select 2h, and maybe a gradient of stiffness, stability and traction control in the street modes, etc. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to happen.

It’s very strange that my wife’s expy goes 4A in Sport but not our Raptors. Not sure what the wise people at Ford were thinking with that one

Ok, questions for the FRF illuminati:

Have any of you made Forscan changes, then had to replace your forscan computer / tablet? What process did you use to get back in business?

I moved long distance back in July, and there were 3 casualties, one of which was the loss of my cheap, amazon sourced windoze tablet whose only mission in life was Forscan for the Rap. It’s gone from this earth (and likely in one of the movers houses right about now). I have several updates - Lincoln fold mirrors, heat/cool icons on the sync display, etc. And I’ve recently gotten the itch to do away with the door chimes.

Is it as simple as buy another tablet, get another forscan license and go forth and modify? or more to it?

thanks!

IIRC, the forscan license is tied to the software, not your hardware or the VIN. You should be able to redownload forscan, get a new liscence, and go forth. Do you have your "As Built" data still? That might present a bit of a challenge if and when you wanted to reverse any mods. Door chimes were one of my first casualties, hate those doo doo doooo's.

I switched computers after I used forscan and did NOT have to repurchase the software.

It’s not like a tune loader the keeps the stock configuration files in it, you can download the as built off fords website and load stock back in. Or, you can get another laptop and continue to mod as you please.

yeah, the only reason I would want any “as built” data would be for a potential bad mod; a value I’ve already updated getting updated again for another mod or a potential typo. by now, I’m hoping I’d know if I had a typo in any previous mod.

Now I need to source a new tablet or laptop.
Thanks !

Ok I've done several mods in Forscan. Is there a way to convert the AutoStop button to turning ON the AutoStop. By default the AutoStop would be off. I know it can be disabled i would like to reverse it.

I don’t think you can do that with FORSCAN. I think the closest is one of the AS/S eliminators. They default it to off, but allow you to enable it.

Back in the FORSCAN mod game. FINALLY.

Has anyone done the IPC / quick boot mod :

IPC Quick Boot (No Ford animation shows on cluster) IPC 720-07-01 xxxx xxxx 2xxx

if so, could you report on your impression? I’d just make the mod but I’ve already added 3 changes to IPC today and would like to wait.

What a PITA to replace the computer... see below

SHYEAH. So, I don't remember how long ago, but... a while. I set about finding a replacement for my lost windoze tablet. Mine was long since pulled from the open market. I ordered another but did so without fully checking and ended up with a Windoze 8 something or other tablet; basically the microsoft equavalent to an IPAD ; an enclosed OS that only runs apps, not executables. I saw conflicting info online about making it able to run .exe files but... no, it won't. I sent it back and could not find a replacement under $200. Everything I did find was months out on delivery. I went up a little more in price and was still striking out, so I searched locally. No joy. everyone has pulled stuff from the shelves that isn't likely to sell, like a basic, no frills windows computer... I searched local best buy inventories but all were 'ships from warehouse' and again, way out on delivery. I started looking at vendors I'd shopped before, found a remanufactured one at newegg. SCORE.

several days later I got a shipping update which I should have paid more attention to, as it was a shipment cancelled notification. Stinkers. I went back 2 days later and DOH. I ended up right back on amazon and dumped about 275 on a remanufactured laptop. Got it and a couple days later opened it to find a pretty good looking lenovo, uncharged but that’s not surprising... Only the charger didn’t fit. So I had to get with the vendor who shipped me the correct charger. Using economy last class shipping. About a week later I got it, charged it and got the software downloaded. Today I did all the module backups and finally suppressed the door chimes. Once in a while the DSR1 gets confused and sends full stereo volume through the doors when the chimes try to intervene. it’s a little jarring. Or it was, anyway.
