Are 2019's prone to cam phaser problems? If so, what mileage do they normally occur at? I'm negotiating a deal on a 2019 and have seen a lot of 2018s with cam phaser issues. Starting to get cold feet on my purchase...

Thanks

Its under warranty, just buy it. Goes by the date of build. I think before june of 2019 is iffy, after is okay, I'm too lazy to look it up.

My 19 supercab has 15k on it and developed the cam phaser rattle 2k miles ago. After researching here and watching videos on YT on what's involved I just don't want to risk the truck not coming back 100% after the engine is torn apart just to get rid of a 3 second noise.

After talking to my dealer I decided to leave it alone until I either sell the truck or run up on 5 years / 50k miles warranty on the powertrain. I'm having everything documented with the dealer in any case.

It really is more of an annoyance on occasional cold starts than it is something to be concerned with.

my 2018 has 31k miles does it every once in a while- there are guys w/ 2019/2020 trucks also have it. Not worth sweating about

a dropped lifter from the DOD function of the G/Mopar V8s May not be as common but can result in real damage or complete engine failure if not attended to early on. Nothings perfect....if it was there’d only be one make & one model truck to buy, the “perfect” one lol
