Exactly what Braaaaptor said. Remove the large skid plate for 1st change and then you can get a funnel up to the drain plug. Fumoto valves are a game changer. I used the F107N M12-1.75 Model and it works great. It has a barbed end to put a 3/8 hose on , so the oil drains directly into whatever you are using to catch the oil.
What year is your truck?
Thanks!

Just curous (from someone who hasn't owned a Ford product in a couple decades who's currently flipping a coin on his Raptor/Bronco decision): are Fords not suited to use the suction extraction method?

I use it on my old/sold BMW M3 and current MB G-wagen, for both engine & diff oil, and always get more oil out that way vs. conventional draining via the plug. It's super easy & virtually mess free. Plus, those germans put the oil filters on the top side of the motor, providing convenient access, but that may be why the suction method may not work w/the Raptor?

Really, come on it’s an oil change. I put a Fumoto on mine with a piece of hose I stick on problem solved. Probably not by the book though.

The simplicity of the job is not the problem. It’s about what method does the factory service manual recommend to avoid spilling oil everywhere like everyone on this forum claims.

If this many people on here are buying aftermarket plugs because of how “terrible” the job is, I think we’re missing something simple.

The biggest thing I noticed is that the stream of oil comes out horizontally, not mostly downward like I'm used to on other vehicles. It comes out pretty fast. If you're not ready for it, or if the oil is too hot for you to hold the plug partly in place until the flow slows down, there's a potential mess on your hands.

I do this on my little convertible roadster, but I would NOT do this on my Raptor.

Too much chance of leaving a LOT of oil in there, I don't think the suction hose would be long enough. It bottoms out on my little car. Plus, as you said, the oil filter for my car is on top. Even if you sucked out the oil in the Raptor, you are still going to have to change the filter on the bottom and there is still going to be a good amount of oil in there and a potential mess. Might as well just do everything from the bottom if you've got to do one or the other, may as well do both.

This + IIRC there was another forum member who tried but found there were baffles in there (most likely to reduce sloshing with the large volume of oil) which made sucking it out nearly impossible if you weren't willing to really force it. (We've all been there ;))
