Cracked windshield from inside

After I had a chance to get to the shop, I inspected the big crack and found the initiation point on the inside of the glass. While scraping off the old sticker, the goon jammed the scraper tool down into the dash/windshield junction and the contact pressure on the inside cracked the glass big time. Manager stepped up to pay for it no problem. The goon didn't last long. He was a real nice guy, but about 350lbs and clumsy, so...

Probably was still the cause. Tempered glass is under huge stress internally, it only takes just the right vibration to crack or shatter. I watched a guy crack a front windshield by tapping on the drivers side door mirror trying to remove broken chunks from the side mirror.

Why try to get the dealer to cover a windshield after nearly 30K miles? You have glass coverage on your ins right? They don't ding your rates for a windshield.

If you claim it on your insurance, you could have it done in your driveway under your direct supervision. No footprints on the dash that way. No trips to the dealer, no leaving your truck there, no chances at door dings, other vehicles backed into yours, all the fun stuff that happens to customer cars at dealers every day. I can understand if it affected your rates- but it doesn't.
