Let me begin by kindly expressing, I am not looking for detailed, abc, how it's actually done answer, maybe a high level theft prevention concepts would be good enough. I suspect this could be a wonderful source for a newbie thief that just wants to hone his or her skills. I certinally hate to be encourage Ford thefts here in this forum.

I noted a few member's vehicles were stolen, one just for a fun ride. I want to thank those members for their posting and there comments. "Stolen just for a ride" I wonder why that thief, did not just drop by a dealer for a free soda and a demo ride?

No stress on anyone, except the poor salesperson that missed their intended sale.

Always leaves me wondering how come you and I have to purchase our trucks? Then there are others that can just drop by anytime, some possibly preferring nights and just pick up a truck, no credit check, no down payment, nor following monthly payments. I know they don't get to pick the options as carefully as you and I can but it still doesn't seem right. I understand extending circumstances, not many.

Maybe it should be more like in the old west days of the horse stealing past, some only got caught once.

This bring me to my real question.

What's safe? In my 2018 vehicle it has, push button start, as your Raptors do, they needs the FOB near by to start. Even if the FOB battery goes dead, you still need its FOB nearby to start the truck.

How are they moving these vehicles, at least in the one case, just taking it for a ride, with out a tow truck? Remember I don't need the world to know how to steal a truck without the FOB .

In one attempted theft it seemed that the owner left the truck open but unattended while he went inside, I don’t know where the fob was or if it was a trim with a standard key and the key was inside. Many Raptors use a standard key instead of a fob. I know some people who just leave the fob in the car all the time and don’t worry about theft. One of my buddy’s leaves truck unlocked and his keys in the truck on Cape Cod for the past 20+ years driving newer Tundras. Most car thefts where they take the entire car are done with a flatbed tow truck, most would assume it’s a repo or something and just ignore it.

FOB Continuously sends a signal to/from the vehicle if within range and thieves can capture this signal and basically make it as if the FOB is in the vehicle, thus simply driving it off....that’s why I installed the RAVELCO device, that can’t happen. I guess they could vandalize the inside or get a flat bed truck and steal it, but they can’t drive it away.
...it really keeps the honest away, because if someone really want your vehicle, they’ll find a way to get it.

Disclaimer: not a professional their but I did take a few classes on unlocking and starting things that you don’t have the keys to.

People like to talk about Ford’s poor door lock design. Truth is they are the most common vehicle on the road. So anyone that wants to increase their chance of getting in or be able to resell parts they want a common vehicle.
Just like what was mentioned earlier, your fob and truck are constantly transmitting. Just like stealing WiFi you just have to piece it together and replicate it. Without searching too hard you can find devices on the inter web to assist in your learning. Best way to do it is get the code and make tour own key fob.
With all that said, sometimes old tech is better. If we could padlock the door and chain the steering wheel it would slow the thieves but if someone wants it they will take it. Ideally we can slow them down or discourage them enough so we can disturb their efforts.
Or leave the keys on the front seat and hope for the best.
