Apple CarPlay not always activated?

I have had this issue on a GMC (so frustrating) and what I found was shorter cables that are high quality (and sometimes what outlet you use) can many times fix the issue. Also obviously update to latest phone software. I can say for my new 2020 with a short cable my iPhone connects 100% of the time.

I am also having same issue with my 2020 loads 50% of the time. Was at dealership today everything up to date software wise both phone and truck using apple cable frustrating for an $77,000 truck

Anyone know how to toggle between? I plug my phone in to charge but don’t always want CarPlay to activate and want to go back to the standard ford home screen

On the carplay screen there is a series of dots or dashes at the left lower corner click that then hit the ford icon. Hope this helps

yeah what lead foot said there is ford icon in CarPlay (I think it will be in different locations depending on your apps), that takes you back to standard Home Screen, which will have CarPlay icon to get back to CarPlay. So the toggle between is pretty slick and easy.
