Truck damaged by transport company

I got rear ended in my new Porsche a few years back. 30k damage to the car they didn’t total it. Paid 800 for a diminished value report and got 10k after negotiations. No attorney

I appreciate the suggestions on sending it back - unfortunately, I ‘owned’ the truck before the trucking company picked it up.

I have the truck at a Ford Certified repair shop that has gone through all of the ‘working with aluminum’ training, so I think they’ll do a good job. They also to all the repairs for one of the area’s largest Ford dealers.

I spent most of the day on the phone with my insurance & their insurance - so it looks like we’re going to go that route. The damage to my rig was quoted out at $9000 - expensive, but not going to be able to declare it a total loss. The work will consist of a new roof, sunroof (both panels & electronics), windshield, high brake light, and rear window panel.

Now that insurance is involved - a DV claim is definitely something I’ve started to pursue. I found a local company online, but if any other CO / Denver-area FRF members have used a CO company, I’d be excited to hear your referrals.

After all the dust settles - will see how I feel about the truck and figure out whether I go and trade it for another.

When you start the value portion of the claim (after you get it fixed)

everything to their insurance is certified mail. They respond much faster as they think you are building a paper trail for lawyers

Rub some dirt on it.

I think you will be okay, replacing a roof, is not a big deal to a body shop, it's a lot easier with these new vehicles then back in the day when everything had to be welded and full of bondo afterwards. This will be seamless. See if you can't get some pictures of the repair process, will probably put you at ease. Good luck and when you get it back, have fun with it, these are great trucks.

After this much drama, you’ve got to hold on to the truck for a little while.

No sweat. Fords roofs and sunroofs leak when brand new all the time. You’ll be back to factory quality in no time. Doesn’t matter who fixes it.

If they do a nice job, I'm sure they will, this will be a distant foggy memory after a year or so. See if you can get some diminished value money, then forget about it. Best of luck.

Wow, I feel your pain. The body shop sounds credible, I doubt if you will be able to spot the repairs when they are finished. I wonder if this “collision” will be reported to CarFax?

That just plain sucks. Kicking out the kind of dough we do for a performance vehicle, this should be a pretty fun and exciting experience. Something like this is just a kick in the nuts at a time you should be celebrating. Really sorry. We all feel your pain.
