I just got my new truck 1 month ago and decided to replace the headlight modules with Morimoto's, but had a local guy I use for jobs I don't want to do, (like pulling what to me looked like pulling the front half of the truck apart ). I bought the Morimoto's and a triple BD build your own kit from 4x4Truck. I agree, that the instructions are not really that detailed, but understandable if you spend some time looking under the truck to see where everything goes. Putting the lights on after the brackets are installed seemed to work for me and yes there is very little room to get to readjust them if necessary. I cut off an allen wrench of the correct metric size so it could be slipped in the small space between the lights to loosen and tighten the light adjustment it necessary. One thing that was confusing is all the cables that come with the lights and the kit. There could have been a note that said to throw all the BD cables and extra cable ends away and just use the 4x4 supplied cable. I think for me anyway, if I had read the instructions a couple of times I would have had less questions. Anytime I had a question (a couple were pretty stupid!!)I called 4x4 or emailed Adam (faster response)at 4x4 and almost immediately received an answer. Their customer service is awesome in my opinion. All now installed with numerous runs under the truck on my creeper and they work great!!
I do agree, if the instructions had been written by a Ford tech writer, the directions would have been a bit more detailed, but they are usable in my opinion and with the support from people like 4x4 are good!!

The Baja instructions really lack anything, I'll agree to that. We wrote our own instructions to help clear things up a bit (and provide better amperage listings for the various lights/trucks).

We used to pull the extra harnesses from the light kits prior to sending but...

1) That took extra time to open each set of lights and pull the extra harnesses
2) We ended up with WAYYYY too many of these harnesses laying around.


We have hundreds of splitters and universal switches now. So we started leaving them with the kits to save time and space in the warehouse. We should add a note in that they are NOT needed to alleviate any confusion.

Dealing with a buddy (23years master guns) about to retire and they found a ******* tumor in his head. has a bad ass scar behind the left ear.

Cool. Might help the next guy.

Your company no doubt goes through a long process of coming up with ideas for vehicles, thinking out wiring plans, etc.

A short video of the actual installation would be easy after all that. Even more straightforward and dummy proof than better written instructions. Who better to do that than the actual manufacturer.

I think someone asked for pictures of my install of the BD lights from 4x4.
Here are a couple. The cable from 4x4 is long so you have to wire tie a lot of the length to other places. Be careful what you tie to doesn't move!! The extra cable up top in the engine compartment fits nicely in the slot next to the battery folded up. The cable between the lights goes right on top of the skid plate with the end where it enters and leaves the skid plate tied down with wire ties. Once you have the cable routed to the passenger firewall, it's just a matter of identifying the correct wires and crimping them I used liquid lectric tape to seal all DSCN1567-1.jpg DSCN1569-1.jpg DSCN1576-1.jpg the connections that are crimped. I tightened the screws fairly tight, so moving the light was difficult but once they are finally moved, they seem to stay where they were put.
Sorry this took a couple of days but a guest showed up just as I was going out to take the pictures!! And stayed for 2 days.

Installation tip for those running 3 sets of Squadrons... use the middle mounting channel. The forward most channel is good for 1x S2 and 2x Squadrons. 3x Squadrons work best with the center channel. This way you can spread the lights out more if you want to (on my own truck they are close together because of where my lights are aimed, i have them down at the ground)
