Recently started hearing a noise while at highway speeds on my 2017 (33k miles), starting around 70mph. At first I thought it was just heavy winds, but I noticed the intensity was directly corresponding to my turbo gauge. I have no CELs, no performance issues, mileage issues, etc. but the noise freaks me out everytime

The first 15 seconds is the noise happening, the last 6 seconds is as soon as I let off the throttle

My initial thought is that it could be the active grill shutters getting stuck and it actually be a whistling noise, but I haven't found anybody else on the forum with a similar problem

Is it a high pitched/frequency buzzing type sound? Hard to tell on my tablet speakers.

Mine did this at certain a certain speed range, I think it was between 63-66 or so. It would not happen unless I was in that speed range.

I think it was the tires wearing funny and the road noise/vib was causing some kind of resonance in the cab, sounded like it was coming from the left side of the dash. I put on new tires at some point and it hasn't happened again. Nothing else was changed on the truck.

Its more so a low droning noise. I could see it being tire vibration, but it only occurs when I'm on the throttle and its boosting, as soon as I let off the gas then it disappears - even at 70+

I actually had a Cobb Stage1 and Eibachs installed a few weeks prior by Trident Trucks in Austin, so I was afraid the tune was causing it. I completely uninstalled, and the noise persists so hopefully can rule that out

It’s hard to tell from your video, but IWE partial engagement is suspect any time a noise occurs after being under boost and then disappears when letting off the accelerator.

Try duplicating the concern with the 4WD system in 4A. If you can no longer get the noise to occur, IWEs are suspect. Diagnostics are straightforward, it’s a simple vacuum operated system. Most common failure is the check valve; if you remove it and can blow air through it both ways, it’s failed.

I would not think if the tires were cupped from not being rotated the noise would be constant. Ruling that out based upon others having the same issue it might be the valve or shutters, but I would imagine it would have a CEL light. like FordTechOne said, hopefully its just the valve which seems to come up a lot on this and other forums, some members carry an extra one.

Is the noise the same on both sides of the truck, Does it happen 4A, is it on all road surfaces? I had a bad front U Joint on my Bronco that would only vibrate when I lifted off the pedal

IWE is new to me, but it definitely seems to be boost related and then disappears in sync. I tried doing a quick research on IWE and not seeing similar issues, but is this the part you're referring to? Seems like an easy diagnostic and a cheap fix

I appreciate the help!

that's the part. Is yours blue like that? If not, replace it with that part.

Mine is definitely not blue, so going to order the part and swap them out. Assuming that gets rid of the noise, do you think there's any resulting damage that I should also get checked out? I'm hoping this would fall under the powertrain warranty if so
