Depending on the state, sometimes part of the discount evaporates in other BS dealer charges and markups.

In my case, I only saved a grand off MSRP, but I was happy to get that. And that was on a new Lead Foot with 36 miles. But then they charge you $100 fee for taking your trade. $699 dealer conveyance fee. $300 to F up your windows with your VIN etched in every damn one. $3 (yes, three dollars) fee to support Lemon Law.)

Everything these days is like cell phones when they started out. The damn fees are ridiculous.

The only charge I am getting is a $250 document fee. I think that's fair.

That isn't "fair" it's just less of a butt ****** than most get.

ALL extra fee's like that are pure dealer profit.

Well coming from New York it's pretty damn fair..lol They rake us over the coals over here. Going from 5K over sticker to 7K under sticker, I'm not complaining!

Go out to TX and get laughed at for offering 7k under sticker.

I don’t know about that exactly. Dogget Ford in Houston offered me 6k under msrp because I said I don’t really care for the graphics package and that was on an 802a. I didn’t really try to negotiate as I had something else lined up in Texas and was just double checking deals. Granted you may have been looking at a different time frame than I was but this was less than a month ago.

There are way too many variables when car buying. That sounds like a great deal.

Did you have a trade in?
Were you going to use their financing?

I love how the dealers will give you a huge chunk off msrp, then screw you on the trade in.

100 different ways for them to make money in the end.

what I do know is generally speaking suv and truck prices are far cheaper outside Texas.
mileage will vary.

Can buy SUVs, trucks (including Raptors) all day long for invoice here in Fredericksburg. Not all of Texas is the same way.

I thought fredericksburg just had 3 wine shops and 34 antique shops for tourists.
Learn something new every day.

I should have added "anywhere near a major city"

Paid 47,500 for a 17' with 28k on it. could not have asked for it to be in better condition. bought it private.

can't believe ya'll pay that much for your trucks.

Price you pay to break the seat in with your own ass. I wanted that fresh seat.

I paid $66,500 plus tax for a $70,910 MSRP Scab 802A with beadlocks, decals, and bedliner. The Scab I ordered without the extras that was cancelled would’ve cost me $63K. In my case I will only keep the truck as long as it’s under warranty, so up to 8 years. A used 2017 would probably be 3-3.5 years old at this point, so I could only keep it 4.5-5 years.

I did shop used Scabs, but there wasn’t much available 2018 or newer for under $55K and the cheaper end were all 800A for basically what they sold for new. I couldn’t find any Scabs private party to avoid the 9.1% sales tax. The one 2019 Scab 802A I found reasonably close was still $62K with 12K miles, and it was still from a dealer so I would’ve paid the tax. It was close enough money wise that I’d rather have the full warranty.

Some on here would say stop being a bitch, **** warranty, go slap a tune on the truck. That’s not a financial exposure I’m interested in at this point. I can afford whatever repairs come my way, but I’d rather not. I figure my truck will still be worth $30K or more in 7 years with around 110K miles on it. At that point my average cost to own will be about $7000 per year plus tires and a few mods, so not much more than a standard F-150. The used truck may well have a lower cost per year, but I couldn’t enjoy it as long.
