Is there a good place to stash a quart of oil

I recently opened a tote filled with Mopar ATF in my garage only to find two of the bottles had leaked in the couple years it was sitting on the shelf in my garage. I’ve also had oil bottles break in my Bronco to the point where I store them in a plastic bin inside the storage box. I’m thinking I’d seal a quart of oil in my wife’s food vacuum packer before I considered storing it inside the truck.

That’s actually not a bad idea. I’ve never had a problem with this and I have a cabinet filled with oil/fluids/whatever in the garage. I’ve also had a quart of Mobil1 in my current truck since I got it and I store it in an under seat storage box. Never leaked in the 4 years it’s been in the truck.

I have a Craftsman cargo box (water and dust proof) in my bed with all may spare oil, brake, transmission, coolant and windshield washer fluids. You just never know when you're off road.

This is a good idea. I had mine it a open tub with other stuff, standing up next to cans, boxes, my stove, etc. When the side of the bottle wore through, most of the oil stayed in the tub. Had it been a cargo box or tool box with a lid, I think it would have all stayed inside. I'm going to look at the space behind the passenger rear when I get my truck back, but unless it's all nice soft fabric, I'd probably rotate the jug out with a new one at every oil change.

I thought this was the Gen1 forum...

Do you guys really think you need spare oil in your new raptor?

I can’t remember the last time I had to put oil in any vehicle except for during an oil change.

The gen 2's leak oil from the oil pans and elsewhere i guess, bur I think its a good idea in case you break an oil line or something offroading, no harm, no foul.

This is my strategy. Think about it, if it's just to top off the engine, a quart is fine. But if you bust a cooler line, or have another catastrophic failure, is a quart really going to be enough? I keep a 5qt jug bungeed in the bed with a gallon of coolant and my tools kit. Time for an oil change, the jug in the bed goes in the engine, and the new one goes in the bed.
