This is very true. With my Raptor, I only get a loaner because I purchased the ESP, and it only kicks in if it's warranty related work. I had two Lexus vehicles before this, no extended warranty and I got a loaner every time I took it in, even if it was for an oil change, and even when I was no longer in warranty.
Yes, but that is baked into the sales price. Don't kid yourself.

The first very important question to the OP is it in the shop for a warranty issue?

Yes. Oil was leaking from the front of the transfer case. They pulled it apart and put in a new seal. Which didn't fit. Turns out the casing wasn't machined to spec. They're saying the part is back ordered two weeks and are blaming covid for supply chain disruption instead of Ford for being too cheap to stock parts for warranty repair.

Oof. Tell them you can't afford a rental and you will just drive it the way it is till parts come in. Then see what they say about a loaner. I bet the will find one for you.

I asked them to bolt it back together and let me drive it until the part comes in and they said no. Maybe I should ask more forcefully.

Yeah, they tried to install the wrong part, on an otherwise driveable vehicle. There's gotta be some wiggle room.

They say it was the right part but it didn't fit properly and that was the reason it was leaking in the first place.

It's a toyota with nice seats. Come'on. Toyota=Ford, Lexus=Lincoln. You pay more, you get more.

I was comparing my service with Lexus to my service with Ford and how the Lexus service was better. You said it’s baked into the price. But my Ford costs significantly more than either one of my Lexus vehicles. Maybe baked into the cost of the service might be more applicable.

You buy a lexus, you get better service than toyota. You buy a lincoln, you get better service than ford. Wife has an escalade, it came with a lot longer warranty, loaner cars, whatever, compared to a tahoe, all included. We payed for it.

Your "ford" costs significantly more because it cost's more than a lexus. If they rolled it out with free loaners, it would cost even more. It's not a big deal, you can pay now, or you can pay later. I bought the warranty on my raptor with rental coverage, I chose to pay now.

It's not that difficult.
