Been a while since I've posted, but considering changing my current exhaust, which is res delete, black widow venom racing muffler, and dumped near stock location. I use to have it dump after muffler, but too much resonance under bed making it too loud in cab. I like what I have but wondering if there may be something better? I like some noise and don't mind a bit of drone. I may want my raptor to do something it can't, but i really love the sound/response of my Maserati gt mc cabrio. I know two totally different na v8s, but appears the corsa extreme and ford performance sport notes are drug out after a rev? I recall ford perf is essentially borla, right? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks and take care. a9d4007e6b9aac0149964b97391fde31.jpg

I ran Borla and it was way to quiet. Pulled that right out and went with some cheap mbrp to just test for volume. The sound was horrible. Volume was good but horrible tone.

I know it’s been preached that if you really want that sweet sound you have to run headers. But even still to your point I notice too. If you rev it over like 3800rpm it holds the rev and slowly brings it back down. Almost like the spring on the throttle return needs to be stronger or the throttle body shaft is gunned up and closes slowly, there’s too much air being drawn in the system isn’t strong enough to close that value quickly.

Or maybe this is a safety feature to help save the motor?

I am currently running a BBK Varitune muffler with a custom pipe out the side. I like the ability to adjust when I want to play or if I’m planning a road trip

The Corsa will be more baritone, with jackhammer noise when you romp on it.

Your comparing 2 very different engines, they are both 90° V8 but that's about it for the noise department. The Maserati is higher winding, small displacement, faster reving with larger VVT cams and 2 valves per cylinder running through tuned exhaust manifolds into an h or x and out of dual exhaust with a twin intake system. The 6.2l is pig iron mid-size v-8, SOHC, slow/low reving through a single 3" exhaust, single air inlet. The pipe length and size difference is enough to make a big difference. You won't get them to sound the same.

The black widow is a hybrid baffle/straight through design. Go down to your local exhaust shop and see if they will let you audition a few different mufflers. Modern straight through (glass or steel packing), old school glasspack (long and short), turbo, helmholtz, resonators, chambered etc... until you listen to them on your truck in person there isn't a good way to decide. Strictly based on your short post I would recommend a dynomax 24222 race bullet, should be under $50 so you aren't out a lot if you hate it.

I have been running SW long tube headers and s/w dual exhaust for 9 years now, have never gotten tired of the sound, and the reliability has been great, just need to tighten the clamps every couple of years.

I went with the Corsa Extreme on my 2014 and couldn’t be happier. It has been three years since installed and still looks and sounds great. It is more expensive than other choices but they have decent sales throughout the year.
