GEN 2 KHC Torque Arm, anyone running it?

I don't see how this is supposed to help at all....

What is the reference point from the diff housing?? WTH are you actually measuring!? This shows no reference to the issue of the skid plate bracket smacking the shit out of the front pinion seal.....

@sixshooter_45 You got 3 options...

1) Put the cradle on with the front skid plate bracket installed and see where the bracket falls.
2) Get them to send you a new front skid plate bracket without measuring and just say it hits so you don't waste your time.
3) Screw it all and just cut the damn bracket.

I say just do option 2 or 3. 2 if you don't have the tools. Them pushing the blame onto ORA seems like a cop out... They were in this thread initially. They KNEW there was a problem... They've had MONTHS to address us all on this issue easily.... This leaves a very poor impression....

I do appreciate that at least ORA is trying to stay somewhat on top of it but what are you supposed to do if you aren't given anything in the first place?

@smurfslayer Shit happens man. I still appreciate the effort for getting the GB together. Between ORA and you, you guys can only do so much to hold KHC accountable.

Now don't get me wrong. I still really like my Torque Arm. It is a solid product, but I'll be damned that them not addressing this openly and getting the information out officially is ridiculous. It's straight up dumb that multiple people have to get in here to disseminate information. The only people that have the entire picture is KHC. Like... did they even fix their production to NOT have this issues for future buyers? Are we to assume anyone else looking to get this thing has to roll the bones and hope they don't have the funky cast diff housing?

I've never really bashed a company before and these guys responded to me in a very timely manner for my initial issue of being given a wrong part, but this whole situation is RIDICULOUS... Like seriously... take some damn ownership...

Ok, so mine has been on order since December 2019 and I have not received it yet. How would I use this template. I have sent a couple of email to Steve and a phone call this morning with no response yet. Not sure what's going on, but starting to get frustrated. I know this is going to be great and I definitely need it, so I hope they get this cleared up soon.

Holy crap man... They can't get your product in 7 months?! 7 MONTHS??!?! I would've blown my top on them.

What... we waited about 4-5 months and that was a group buy?

It should be a big problem though. These guys have been pushing projects and parts the entire time. They've had sales on the bed braces stating "keeping the guys busy during lock down". They have been going to work and doing stuff. Just look at their Instagram and dates.

Sure they started moving their shop in June but you ordered your stuff in DECEMBER.....

I don't know man... SMDH....

I did talk to Steve and they were short staffed the whole time. Not to mention I ordered the wrong one first.

I'm more than capable of fixing this myself but to me it's the principle of the whole process.

It's the first group buy that I've ever been involved with and I believe it's a quality component and they have stated that they'll stand behind it and replace it if necessary so I do appreciate that, however, the way this has been handled is in my opinion terrible, really poor overall customer service.

Maybe I didn't understand but I was under the impression that this was a well thought out design.

It is prudent that the manufacturer take into consideration variables that could cause issues with their product prior to releasing it to the public.
I can understand that we're all human and mistakes or oversights do happen but that's also when the responsible party should step up to the plate and not just take a hiatus.

Anyways I guess I'll take the measurements and reply back to them to see what's the next step.

That's the thing though. The KHC cradles are all made the same off the same jig. The issue is that Ford has different rear diff housing castings (as reported from KHC). So Measuring KHC's cradle isn't going to tell you anything because none of that data relates to the dimensions of the rear diff housing installed on your truck.

The thing I don't know is what dimensions changed from Ford. It's either the the thickness of the diff housing changed where one is thinner than the other, or the snout is a little bit longer. In the first instance it would push the front of the cradle up some. There's a tab on the underside of the cradle which I got a picture of with a screwdriver pointed at it in this thread. If the snout is longer it's pretty straight forward. In both cases, again, measuring the KHC cradle won't tell you anything.

I'll admit if I'm wrong on this or completely off base here. Someone else please chime in if I'm not making any sense as I'm not trying to spread some false news, but at this point I kinda feel like I'm one-sidedly attacking this...

I think they were sourcing slightly different housings. Lucille is a late ’16 build ’17 MY, and has the loose fit - would have been the rocking issue. Was it enough to hit the pinion? I -think- but don’t know and wasn’t about to find out the hard way.

It’s entirely possible and likely that the models for the torque arm were all consistent, and we just have examples out there that aren’t.

Don’t mess with it. It’s entirely unnecessary, and an OPTION when you buy outside the group buy. You give up NOTHING by not running the lower diff shield and you eliminate the chance of ruining your pinion seal.

Just install the torque arm without the front mount and lower diff shield.

So as far as I can tell after reading though all of this, it's that the front bracket used between the top mounted plate, and the front of the skid plate slips too far forward and F's up the pinion seal and deflector (on some trucks), correct? This is only an issue with the skid plate option? To be honest I'm not using mine like most people on here so I wasn't too sure I wanted the skid plate option to begin with. I was going to get it as added insurance for the one or two times a year I travel across a rocky creek bottom for about a mile each way... otherwise I'm afraid it would just hold the mud, there is a lot of clay in a few places I go. Can it be purchased separately does anyone know, or are the brackets different if you order without the skid plate?
