Hey guys, I may have slid off a trail and beached the truck on a dirt mound. After recovery, my front right tire has been skipping when stationary and there is a slow but consistent clanging noise, sort of like a metal on metal frictional skipping noise.

My steering wheel works normally when turning, but these issues seem like they're pretty concerning nonetheless. Has anyone experienced similar issues or know what needs fixing?

Thanks

Maybe you can elaborate; what do you mean by the tire is "skipping when stationary"?

My bad, I meant the tire skips heavily when I turn the wheel while the truck is not moving. I also do not have 4wd, my truck has been converted to 2wd with a Brenthel/Bajakits long travel kit.

so its a power steering or steering rack issue? might have damaged something while you were stuck...... or getting unstuck.
I just remembered that the front right tire is what hit the mound first on impact while turned, which makes me think it's a power steering issue. At the same time, I have not had any leaks and my steering wheel feels fine, so I'm not too sure.

It's a 2012. I'm not too experienced with checking steering components and whatnot. Is there anything specific that I should be looking for?

how did you get unstuck? were your wheels buried? did you move them back and forth? i would check the tie rods as thats probably the weakest link
