Firstly, Hello there, this is my first post in the forum! =)

Background:
I haven't done a lot of wrenching on cars in my days, I mostly enjoy driving them. I haven't been confident enough to start wrenching either, "something might go wrong".
But I think I'm going to start to do some mods myself soon.

I have a black 2012 Raptor with 37k miles on it.
It's basically a stock Raptor with Cooper STT Pros (315/70r17) instead of the stock tire on it.

I totally love it, but I've had it for three years now and I'm thinking about getting some mods done to it, figured this would be the right place for finding people with the right knowledge. =)

I've looked into getting the trucked widened with the 2.5" bulge fenders from Fiberwerx, the trucks I've seen it installed on look bad a$$.
https://www.fiberwerx.com/collectio...or/products/2010-2014-ford-raptor-2-5-fenders
But then, what else would I need to upgrade to make it look "natural"?
I want the wheels to extend all the way to the outer edges of the fenders (It's also a legal requirement here in Sweden). Also, the size of the wheels might look awkward with such a bulged fender. Is spacers an option, or are there wheels with enough offset to make them reach all the way out?
Can't find any pictures online of 2.5 bulge fenders with 35s, guessing they might look to small? So 37s might be worth thinking into.

So, I guess my questions are:
1) Have you guys had any long terms problems with the 2.5 bulge fenders?
2) What else would I need to upgrade, spacers, wheels, suspension?
3) The 37s I guess is a topic for another thread, but somehow related anyhow.

Disclaimer before i answer your questions just know upfront. these fenders DO NOT come 100% bolt and go. they require some finesse, love, and body work to get the factory finish look on YOUR truck. i emphasize "YOUR" because every single truck has a slightly different fit. from variance in the factory / QA, to maybe a bump or pothole, a ramp you might have hit once or a Prius that wouldn't get out of the way. things move and these fenders will need to be "custom" fit to your truck. Also know that once you get the front fenders on you will likely want to do the bedsides too. which are even more work than the front.

oh and if you are in sweden, shipping is going to be a b*tch.

ok now that the disclaimer is set...

1) Have you guys had any long terms problems with the 2.5 bulge fenders?
- the only long term issue is know these are fiberglass, so they will not hold up to dents and dings as well as metal. not saying that is a bad thing but just know a simple fender bender my cause a bit more damage than with stock fenders

2) What else would I need to upgrade, spacers, wheels, suspension?
-this is a loaded question. the short answer is "it depends on what you want/driving style"
-the long answer is that these fenders are normally a side effect / requirement AFTER other mods. for example if you want to run 37s, larger offset, more compression, and any of the more extreme mods you would put these fenders on after the fact. i will reiterate these fenders can be A LOT of work to put on and get right.

3) The 37s I guess is a topic for another thread, but somehow related anyhow.
-there are many many threads on how to run 37s but long story short, go to mid perch(probably worth rebuilding the shocks while they are out), hammer pinch welds, and use a nice offset wheel. method nv, icon wheel, normally have an offset designed to be used in this fashion, if you go to fuel, or other more general application makers you will need to pay more attention to the offset that you are purchasing.

Cheers and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for all the info, @PorterW1111.
I might be starting off at the wrong end here.
I'm going look at what needs to be done to get 37's on it and start from there.
Maybe, after some modding I hopefully need those fenders. =)
All the best,
Dave

That being said you could absolutely throw on fenders and bedsides, move to mid perch and get some spacers to push those whels out a little run 37s and have a slick looking truck, get a cool wrap to really be the cherry on top.

my only point is those fenders are not as easy to install as they look, not impossible and can be done at home (no super special tools needed, i do recommend a spot weld cutter but thats it) but if thats where you focus your work it would be awesome!

now that I have given you the info, its time for MY OPINION.

buy the fenders and bedsides today! lead time + shipping time gives you plenty of time to get the truck ready for them, like moving to mid perch and getting wheels and tires mounted balanced and installed.

DO IT! itll be awesome, and if you have any questions on how to's feel free to reach out. myself and many others can walk you through all the tips and tricks

Yeah, we'll see where it lands.
Thanks for all the great advice! =)
I bring all my cars to a local mechanic. He might be able to help me install them for me for a reasonable price.
Regarding those 37s. Can I keep my stock wheels and put on 37s?
Do the stock wheels have the right offset for 37s?
Thanks,
D

did you hit purchase yet? lol

yes stock wheels can run 37s i would recommend a 12.5 wide tire though. I might get some backlash from the community but, you can run a wheel spacer to get the desired offset that you would want for both fit and look. that way you dont need to buy new wheels. spacers are cheaper just get a heavy duty set.

I have Boatec +2” fenders and bedsides with the KHC slot delete, ICON UCAs and Method 701s (zero offset). My tires line up almost perfect with the outer edge of the fenders. Just FYI54d984a7164bce63b9dbe72fe65d4d98.jpg

Hey @DWH3 !
Really love your truck, man!
How was the install with the fenders and bedsides?
I'm guessing those are KO2s 37 as well.
Thinking about going back to the KO2s if I decide to go 37s.

Thank you! I’ve been really happy with how everything turned out. I had a body shop do the install and they said the fenders weren’t too bad but the bedsides were a ton of work. You basically have to cut the factory bedsides off and glue the new ones on but only after fitting and trimming over and over. I can send some in progress shots if it’s helpful. Yes, they are 37x12.50R17 KO2s. I think they fill out the fenders pretty well. 2fb7bb1529a788bd7229a3e5247e497e.jpg

Yes, please send some in-progress shots over if it's not too much trouble.
Thanks man, you've been a great help.
I'm quite a novice when it comes to suspension/wheel setup.
Just trying to decode what you're saying here. =)
KHC slot delete = https://krazyhousecustoms.com/gen-1-ford-raptor-slot-delete-kit/ ?
From what I can read up on, the kit supports the mounts for the lower control arms, but also removes the alignment option from the lower control arm, and pushes them to the outer most position.
But then I would also have to get adjustable upper control arms for alignment?
This pushes the front wheels out a bit, right? But what about the rear tires, don't you need something to push them out as well?
I can't seem to get hold of Method wheels here in sweden, but there are a couple of other options.
I think the offset on the raptor stock wheels is 34mm. These are 30mm ET.

Do you think they might fit with BFG KO2 37s on them?
Also, these are 9" instead of 8.5", would that be a problem or is it just better to get more rim to that massive tire? =)

Thanks,
Dave
