Has anyone done both the Sync3 and Steering wheel upgrade?

I am interested in both upgrades I just got a Gen1 and not super impressed with the Sync2 and I have a friend at a stereo place if I need him. I also want to change out my wheel, its kinda worn out.

So, if you have upgraded your Sync2 to Sync3 and the Gen2 raptor steering wheel, does everything work except the heated wheel?

Also, my sync2 backup screen doesn't show me what direction I am turning, the lines are just straight on the screen, is that normal on sync2?

Thanks in advance!

I have done both the Sync 3 and steering wheel

Here is the info on the steering wheel:

I would check eBay for the parts. I found everything except for the steering wheel controls a lot cheaper than retail. The list/links that are in the thread are for brand new and gets pretty pricey.

Here is the info on the Sync 2 to Sync 3:

Again eBay is where most are going and finding pullouts on the inexpensive side.
And YES, everything works just as stock.

As far as the parking lines go, they stay straight on the Gen 1’s. Sync 2 or Sync 3, its all the same.

Thanks man. I did see both those threads they are really helpful. IIR there is a guy on eBay and on the F-150 site that reprograms the Syn3 using your vin. Did you get one from a seller like that?

That was probably to one screw up in spending money. They are expensive compared to buying a used one and programming it yourself. On the flip side everything was plug and play and haven’t had any issues what’s so ever. I think the whole Sync 3 install took me an hour and I’m picky with not scratching anything up.

I did the sync 3 swap myself with a used unit from eBay. Programmed it myself it was so easy. Total install time with programming 2 hours

I did a sync upgrade on my truck and the only issue I have is that there is no navigation commands, or should I say I can't turn up the volume. Same issue when using Android Auto, the audio goes down when you would expect the command but the voice guidance volume must be at zero. I tried turning the volume knob up and tried hitting the volume up button on the steering wheel when the command should be output but neither works. Did anyone else have a similar issue?

Just as an update to my post regarding navigation voice commands. I solved the issue last night, the sync3 system I installed was not configured for the Sony processor in the stereo. I was able to use Forscan to update the configuration and solve the issue. I had to set the first character of the 7D0-01-01 block to "A" to enable the Sony processor in either the APIM or IPC module. The configuration I started with the value of the first character of the 7D0-01-01 block was set to "2". Hopefully this can help someone in the future. I was also able to enable the HD radio and disable the seat belt noise.
