I wasn't happy with my first try and Gen 2 Raptor's. I ordered a 2018 hoping any bugs would have been worked out in the first year model, but I had my fair share of issues starting with the transmission eating itself while comparing speeds with a Chevy. 3 months later, the dealership returned the truck with a rebuilt tranny and in a couple of days, the shifting was so bad I took it back and they replaced the valve body. Still shifted like crap, especially 3-4 and 4-5 shifts. The dealership installed the Whipple Stage 1 for me, and the truck woke up and started shifting better, but eventually the harsh shifts returned. Several tunes later from Whipple and it was finally tolerable in normal mode, but sport mode has some pretty aggressive shifts.

Driving with the girls on the highway last fall, the truck let out a loud pop and started driving odd. Back to the dealership for a month and in the end, the mechanical pump and both turbo's were replaced. While the truck was in the shop again, I decided to part ways with that one and get a new 2020. The dealership offered me a measly 43K on my 2018, so not only did they lose out on what could have been a decent resale, they also lost out on selling me a new Raptor. Found a 2020 in Oregon for near invoice, so I bought it, had it sent up to Alaska on the barge with an ADD bomber bumper in the bed, and flew to Anchorage to pick it up and bring it home.

The 2018 is running decent now, but is going to a used car lot that offered me 50K for it. I didn't want the hassle of selling it to somebody then being ******* out when it breaks down again. Been fun having three Raptors at the house, but the 2018 goes away this Friday. Gonna miss it with the extra horsepower, it is a blast to drive when it's running good. I don't plan on tuning the 2020 any time soon since I'm a little gun shy with all the issues I had with the 2018.

Already had the hood, grille, rockers, mirrors, pillars and around the lights clear wrapped, added red overlays to the Ford lettering and tinted the front window's 35% to match the rear. Getting new Toyo RT's installed in a couple of weeks, so the bead lock rings came off and are getting powder coated red to match. I put the new KO2's on the 2018 for the sale, so I'm on bald KO2's until the Toyo's arrive. Goes into the dealership on Tuesday to paint match the rear bumper, rear plastic panels and the fender flares. I need to order up the Rigid lights for the bumper and that will go on before it starts getting dark out again.

The new Gen 2 shifts so much smoother than the 2018. The suspension feels much better as well. It's hard to walk away from the extra power that I had in the 2018, but so far I'm happy with my decision to hit the reset button before I have more problems.
