No, the truck was purchased used and one of the theory's was that it had been tuned. the odd thing is that I thought spark knock usually presents itself as soon as you step on it ... this happens at the top of the rpm range.

Spark knock typically occurs under high load conditions, such as when under heavy acceleration or when climbing a grade. Your video shows the exact conditions that spark knock will occur if the octane or tuning isn’t correct; heavy acceleration.

I wouldn’t drive the truck hard until you figure out what’s going on with the tuning; at this point for all we know the previous owner had it tuned for E85.

Have you seen heavy knock occur and the knock sensor report none detected? i share his exact same symptoms with a cobb tune on a 2018 and 2020 using premium 93. same noise same rpm range. IDS monitors and cobb handheld show no knock detected.

Made an appointment at the dealership for service, have to wait an entire week because they’re so backed up. Tried calling cob to see if they had any record of a tune on my truck but they said it’s impossible for them to look it up. But now after talking this through, what happens if the dealership does find a tune on it? Are they going to ding my warranty because of it? I’ll keep you guys posted and thanks to everyone

with the factory widebands and knock detonation these things are usually pretty good at making adjustments before it even gets to knock/detonation. If you dont have a handheld maybe you can find someone local that does to datalog the truck - look at the pids for knock as well commanded vs actual timing to see if it's pulling timing (not super useful unless on 93 octane though). You can also pull the plugs real quick for signs of detonation

I may take you up on that drive to Indiana. Even if I bought it from a Ford dealer. You still think they void me ?
It will come down to a he said, he said. they would most likely claim you did the tune and that you didn't buy it like that.

Sadly, it's not about the truth anymore, it's about what you can prove and if you can't prove the tune was there before you bought it, you may be out of luck.

You would need to see another dealer, have them pull the codes, key cycles, etc to hopefully show that tune predated your purchase but who knows for sure.

it might be fine, it might be a shitshow.

Are you even sure it's tuned at this point?

Well, they can only void you on items that could be affected by a tune.

And since you're coming in with a spark knock issue and not a blown engine, who knows if they will even care unless the tune was the sole reason the truck was knocking at that range. That is, even if the truck has a tune.
