Confused about what coolant to use for 2010 6.2 engine. Manual only list for the 5.4 and says gold, supplement list orange for 6.2 but when I check mine it sure looks yellow not orange. It has never been changed or added to. Anyone know for sure on 2010 6.2?

Looks yellow because it’s “washed out”, or in other words “old” coolant.

You can use the Motorcraft Orange

Ford catalog link: https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/
Coolant usage chart:

Edited to remove incorrect information.
Y = Yellow-colored engine coolant approved to Ford specification WSS-M97B51-A1 (Motorcraft® Gold Antifreeze/Coolant) is what you want to use. @FordTechOne is correct. See post #8. Post #9 & 10 are good advice.

Also from Ford regarding motorcraft orange:

Yellow can mix with/ replace orange without a flush.

Ten year old coolant. Time for a good flush(BG product) then go with whatever coolant you want, just don't mix one type with another.

I just purchased for mine at the Ford dealer. Orange is no longer available, new coolant is yellow and is compatible with the orange. Ford also still has gold. The new yellow is NOT compatible with ford gold.

Would be nice if everyone used the same, but unfortunately don’t.

Your vehicle takes Motorcraft Gold per the chart that @xtela posted. I confirmed that the Workshop Manual is in concurrence; Gold is listed for all F-150 engines in 2010 including 6.2.

Note that the chart can be misleading - “Y“ is actually Motorcraft Gold; “DY” is the new Motorcraft Yellow.

Coolant colors are not universal between OEMs. Dexcool is a GM formula and is not designed for Ford engines; not sure why someone would recommend that. GM actually had quite a few issues with Dexcool on older/high mileage engines sludging up.

I only recommend Motorcraft coolant for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles. I’ve seen far too many cooling system issues caused by adding the incorrect coolant especially “universal” “all makes all models” stuff.
