Buying a used 2019 with 8k miles from CarMax. The Carfax shows proper maintenance and it has one owner. Is it worth taking it to the Ford dealership to do an "inspection" to make sure there are no major issues?

First time raptor owner and I see how much abuse these trucks are subjected to. A little worried

Welcome to FRF!

While I haven’t purchased from them in awhile, I’m a big CarMax fan. For the most part, they have very stringent inspection requirements that hold themselves to and they won’t put crap on their lot. The only thing I don’t like about CarMax is that they don’t negotiate and their prices are generally too high. (I love negotiating with the dealers... it’s a big part of the experience/fun for me when buying cars.)

If it were me, I wouldn’t take it to a dealer as I’d trust CarMax over a Ford dealership. I purchased a 2010 “Ford Certified Pre-Owned” Explorer from a local dealership and I can tell you that they skipped most, not if all, items on their 172 point inspection.

I’m curious, will CarMax let you take it somewhere for an inspection, or are thinking about using the 7 day return policy?

Exactly, I was going to drive it straight to Ford or wherever to get a second opinion before finalizing on my end
