A few months ago I saw a post on here of the rubber seal rubbing the paint off the bumper (the area circled in red). I checked mine then and didn't see any paint damage, but today I saw that paint has rubbed off on the bumper on the passenger side (3mm x 6mm).

The driver's side is fine and the rubber sticks towards the rear of the truck past the bumper a few mm. However, the passenger one "appears" to be shorter causing the edge to eat into the bumper. I say appears since the bumper could be misaligned by a few mm or something else like that.

Can anyone link me the post where someone had the same issue (I couldn't find it)? They wanted to remove the seal, I don't want to take that route.

Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to solve it? Truck is only 4 months old so I will most likely go the warranty way, but I wanted to get your opinions!

Thanks!

Had the same problem. The clear film was not placed correctly from the factory. Dealer put in a claim to ford and repainted bumper ends and installed new clear film. No problems since. I also want to say it was the passenger side that was the problem and the driver side was fine.

Dealer should be able to take care of this for you free of charge.

Dirt gets stuck in between the seal and the metal which causes the scratching. When you wash the truck run a towel below the seal

I have been looking for that thread for a while but the search isn’t finding it.
My dealer simply dabbed some touch up paint on there. I told the service manager that other trucks were having the problem and required new protective film and possibly adjusting the bumper ends. is there a service bulletin or directive for the repair or is each dealer set to do as they please?

I have the same problem, also just on the passenger side...because it's covered by the rubber piece I never really see it.

I figured out how to adjust the bumpers so I don’t get the rubbing on my Gen 2. No idea if gen 3 is the same set up.
