Overheating after SVC intercooler?

I have the Cobb , and pull a 30” boat in the fla heat. No issues . Maybe you’re IC is more restrictive? I had assumed they would all be similar maybe not .

Where are you located?

So just to clarify coolant temps went to 250? Or charge air temps? If it’s coolant, your IC could be heat soaked like crazy and not flowing enough cold air? This was one of my concerns with the relocate ic's, and why I stayed stock location CVF

I have an Svc fmic pair with their Baja bumper. Absolutely no issues here.

I run a Buckstop winch bumper that allows the OE intercoler with my Warn 9.5XP winch and improves the venting to the intercooler while its at it. Have a CVF intercooler ready to go in to replace OE unit, as I am in the Oregon high desert, so we see 100+ temps all summer, add in a little towing and off-roading and get a mix of overheat.

Might try double checking connections and changing thermostat to 170° as mentioned.

What part of Cali are you in? Lol I have heard stories like yours then I hear stories from others that are the complete opposite. I guess it mostly has to do with climates and elevation. @zombiekiller has did all the upgrades one can do (radiator and so on) and still has heating problems. I backed off running a winch for myself because I didn’t want to run into heating problems.

I tend to have the motor in between 3500 and 6000 rpm constantly, In manual shift mode, while pushing 40s ( with 4.56 gears), for hours on end.

My cooling issues started when I blew an overflow tank hose off in 128-degree ambient (no that is not a typo or an exaggeration). Pretty sure that I compromised the headgasket at that point. My motor will have the heads pulled off and a new headgasket and high flow waterpump in the near future.

If you run 170 degree thermostat and a bigger radiator ( and don't use a mishimoto overflow tank that WILL fail.) you'll be running 20-25 cooler than stock, which is a very good thing.

these motors run hot by nature.

I believe you. I’ve actually seen higher by about 10 degrees here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torrejón_Air_Base

It was not a bad thermometer either. Before popping the doors on the C130, air crew tells us we will ‘range walk’ to the terminal, no stopping, no talking, just do it. When they popped the doors I was shocked at how hot it was, literally. we started sweating before leaving the plane and in the brief walk from the plane to the terminal, the entire platoon was drenched from head to toe in sweat. Tarmac temps are always a little higher than ambient but DAMN that was hot.

We were over payload on that flight and after fueling put into Newfoundland, which was ~100F cooler. If that’s not enough, the plane tried to put into Andrews, just in time for afternoon thunderstorms, and after 3 aborted landings, set off for Norfolk where we finally landed.

Coolant temps went up to 250 but only in hill country or when pulling something. What do you mean by heat soaked?

I checked all my connections last night and everything looked good. I did fill up with a better octane this morning and I’m about to have a shop see if they can have the fans turn on sooner. I’m not sure what else to do at this point.
