I've had mine off for the past week after my catch can spawned a CEL for crankcase ventilation. Didn't reinstall it just in case it came back and I needed quick access.

I saw this thread this morning and paid a little extra attention to my temps driving to work this morning. 73° ~80% humidity.

While driving a mix of 35-65mph truck hovered around 205° as usual. What was interesting was after coasting for ~5-10 seconds the temps dropped to 199° and I got it down to 194° coasting from 60-30mph.

Definitely not a significant difference but interesting none the less. I think I'll put mine back on here soon as I'd rather have the truck use it's fans and shutters to maintain a constant temperature rather than letting the atmosphere determine heating/cooling cycles.

Removing the cover actually helps the IAT2 sensor read correctly especially idling. Many times the cover will trap heat in and cause the IAT2 to read higher than usual.

Nothing wrong with that at all. You’ll just notice the iat will read lower without it.

It's a thick piece of foam to muffle the sound of the DI pump, removing it will help with IAT2.

To cool down better, ask your tuner to play with the shutters and your truck will be cold, very cold.

Please elaborate. Can the shutters just be disabled wide open? It was high 90's here today, and I could really tell the power difference, as in less power.
I may also take the cover off and through a bag of ice on top of the motor and see what's what. :)

Yes, the shutters (the IC) shutters can be tuned to be open all the time.

You will need a smart tuners tho

you can just unplug them also, I've had mine unplugged for 3yrs on my 17 3.5 xlt. No CEL's. I just unplugged it enough to disconnect power so the plugs still stayed covered at least. I'm in AZ.
