Question #1: 2020 or 2021 Gen 2?

If you want a current gen Raptor, go get it now. The 21s will likely be a new generation truck as they are unveiling it in a couple months, and there will likely not be a Raptor for a few years.

I placed a custom order for one on 5/29. The order banks may still be open. I’d get on it ASAP if that’s what you’re thinking.

Also, good luck finding one at a discounted rate. In mid April, when the COVID scare was in full swing, there were tons of Raptors and F150s on the lot, including many 19s and they were heavily discounted. Now, I go by those same lots and they are becoming bare. My salesman said he heard barely a peep from customers in March and April. Now, he can’t even take vacation they’re so busy.

Discounts are everywhere. Just look at the big sites. Still $5-8k at least.

Not in my local area there wasn’t. Most places are not discounting or discounting very little.

The F-150 is an all-new truck, but a less earthshaking change than the previous model, when Ford ripped the guts out of the Rouge plant and switched from steel to aluminum bodies. In addition, Ford will stagger adding models to production to reduce the number of things that can go wrong.

Another perspective to consider. The gen3 raptor will have very little aftermarket support until a few months after it hits the market. While the gen2 has a ton of aftermarket support and also a ton of knowledge from this forum.

I agree with what everyone has said so far. I ordered my MY20 raptor in Mid March. Just got an update this week. Build will start 6/28 and I’ll have it late July/early August but I’m thinking that’s optimistic.

After all I went through, I was sitting down with the owner of the dealership chain who just got back from a meeting at Ford HQ. FWIW he confirmed no Gen 3 2021 and went as far as to offer to buyback my 2020 and let me upgrade if one comes out. I don’t recall if he was specifically saying no gen 3 or no 2021 period but I think it’s the latter.

Just find the best deal you can and pull the trigger on a '19 or '20. There are no guarantees on anything newer. Since I know you're a realtor, you should consider it like "land", they aren't making any more of it, as far as we know.
If you sit around waiting on the best absolute deal possible, you will likely have to settle for something that's not exactly what you want. Not saying it's not possible, but after a few months of driving it, you'll forget about a grand or two, either way.

I agree with what everyone else has said - no MY21.

What exactly are you looking for (color, options, SCREW/SCAB)? What are you planning to do with it?
