Windshield inside cleaning sticky material off

On the driver side upper area on the inside windshield there was a couple small lines maybe an inch long that appeared to be some sort of glue material left from a previous sticker or something. I tried to wipe off with a rag and nothing happened. I got some goo gone and it really just smeared it in an oval shaped area there. I did not have a good razor so I tried 0000 steel wool which only kept smearing it there. I did find a razor blade but no holder and when I lightly put it there to see can I scrape it off it just felt odd from glass. There is no tint on the window and being my first Raptor (2018) wanted to make sure there is no coating or something on these windshields. Anything I tried did not affect the surrounding area so I would think when I get home I can try to scrape off with a proper razor. Maybe it's super glue I just never ran into this before. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I can't answer your concern if there's a coating on the inside of the windshield, although I suspect not, but whenever it comes to cleaning or removing contaminants, my approach has always been to take the least aggressive means possible. I too would have first tried Goo Gone but since that didn't work, you might want to try WD-40. I found petroleum-based products work well in cases like this. Good luck!

Razor blade WITH a lubricant is your best bet. Lube with glass cleaner. Use acute angle with the razor blade. Good luck.

Use an alcohol swap if you have some.

I tried alcohol and did not work and wanted to make sure before I razor blade it nothing odd from Ford was on the window. I would not think there would be because in some states they put car inspection stickers on that will have to be removed with a razor blade, just very odd this material. Thanks for the replies.

Goo Gone has limited utility. Goof Off is a much better product, works on many more kinds of sticky problems, and works must faster. Turpentine is also very good, but is oily and you may need to use some Simple Green to finish up. I would try those options before I get serious with a razor blade. If you do, I doubt that you will need a razor blade.

3M makes an adhesive remover that is the best I have ever seen. Don't use on plastic but on everything else it is great. I have used it many times to get sticker glue off. I get it at any auto parts store.

I like keeping both on hand. The nice thing about Goo Gone is with it being citrus based you can pretty much use it on anything and not worry about damage. Goof Off can definitely damage things, especially plastics.

The best is Turtle Wax Extra Strength label and decal remover, it does not leave a film on anything after use.

brake clean makes quick work of any sticker residue on glass, then follow up with some glass cleaner. Use something more mild on paint/trim of course.
