That is a beautiful pic, where is that?

We love our RTT, we’ve had it on the raptor for a year all over northern NV and nearby CA. We’re only in our 40s so hopefully another 20 years of RTT before we have to camp in the ground again ; )

Its here in Idaho near a town call Stanley which is about 40 mins from Sun Valley.

I'm also in my early 40s so still up for "roughing it" if you can call it that lol.

Finally got the tent and rack installed and took her out this past weekend for its initial trip. It was all fun and games till I got the tent cover zipper stuck on the tent canvas and like the ******** didn't bring tools to take the tent off. Long story short was a 1-night camping trip instead of 2. Was a 10 min fix at home. Live and learn.

How long does it take to set up/break down one of these? My wife just saw this picture last night and likes.

As far as setting up the tent, or as far as getting everything mounted on the truck?

Tent set up is 5 mins or less. Unzip cover, undo clips, fold open, and put in rods for the rain fly. As for the tent I'll keep it mounted all spring and summer and take it off in the winter. Frontrunner makes some quick release brackets for the tent to pop on and off which I'll be putting on, but the rack will take about 30mins to put on and off.

Wow, only 5 minutes for set up, that's great! Makes setting up in bad weather pretty minimal. I'm guessing taking down and repacking must be about the same. My wife has just hit her 40's and is thinking she needs to hit every beach known to man and thinks this type of beach camping would suit her. Who is the maker of the set up? And if there are multiples, why did you pick this one? Thanks

Packing up takes a little longer as you have to fold the tent canvas back into place so everything is compact and fits under the cover (so maybe 10 mins). The rack is by Front Runner Outfitters (parts list attached) which attaches to a Retrax Pro XR bed cover. If you wanted to save money you could also just skip the Front Runner rack and go with some Thule crossbars. The tent is by CVT and is the Shasta Summit Hybrid Extended Model. Its the one that best fits on our bed without any hang over. Another good brand is Freespirit Recreation. To me, those are the top 2 high-quality root top tent builders right now. I went with the CVT over the Freespirt as the extended model's annex covers the ladder and in rainy weather, I thought I would be better. If its for beach use that might not be as important and the Design of the FSR tent might work better for you.

I'd also suggest checking out some of the hard shell rooftop tents like the James Baroud or the iKamper. Both of those are super fast to set up and stow just as quickly. The hardshell tents are a little more expensive but offer some other options also.
