Why does everyone hate the B&O stereo?

The B&O system is ok for the average person IMO. It's not terrible, but not good either. It really lacks in mid bass and voice stuff gets kind of gets drowned out at higher volumes. Bass is kinda a joke but it at least has a little bump. And like others has stated this thing gets completely drowned out with windows down. It even struggles with the just the moon roof open. You shouldn't have to crank the **** out of it at highway speeds soooo... it's got to go!

So I read thread after thread on how costly it is to upgrade the B&O stereo in the Gen 2's. What makes them sooooo bad they would need to be upgraded? It's a $75k vehicle! Is this for audiophile stuff? Or does it just sound like an old AM radio in a Ranchero?

What @smurfslayer said.

The B&O sound system sounds great when your wife and kids are in the car and you are going to dinner.

But when you had a ****** day at work and want to drive home with the windows open and the roof open and just hear and "feel" your music......the B&O has to be upgraded. It is not listenable when the windows and roof are open.....add highway speeds and it is done.

The way they designed the system, you can't upgrade it....only replace it. If you can't do it yourself...the minimum cost to do it starts around $3,000 for a shop to do it.

I have BMW before and they have Harman Karton, way better then B&O on my ford. I guess it is the way they design the sound system. BMW have their subwoofer under the seat, it is not big but at least is two of them. I heard Burmaster on Mercedes C class and they are the best on a mid range car. I also heard B&O on Audi Q5, it is Ok, still better then B&O on my ford. Like other people said, it is a 75k car, she deserve a better speakers!

That is exactly what I thought! When you have a lot of pressure after getting off work, you wanna release yourself, turn up your volume, and found out the system start to roll down the bass.......

The B&O is not very good above "11" on the volume. For family driving around it's fine. When your by yourself and put it in sport mode and click off the nannies, it's no bueno.

Do all of the dials go to "11"?

Obviously you have NOT " read the other threads"...or you could answer your own thread

I think it is fairly decent , i never go above 15 . I wish Ford would just go overboard on a Raptor sound system. Like somebody said it would not cost much more , but the bean counters would not like it ,they cry about having 1/4 longer screw for a fender bolt because assembly line wanted to make it easier installing on production line. My hearing may be skewed i have 30 year old cerwin vega 15 inch floor speakers and 2 15in CV subwoofers with 400 watt amps in my living room ."

I don't always listen to Led Zeppelin but when i do , so do my neighbors .

911, Not everyone hates it, I like it just fine. It’s a very good quality stereo for a truck; could use more of a punch of bass. The Highs/Treble and Midrange are well above average...I’d say very good and the bass is kinda “Meh” but fair to good in my opinion. Really depends on how ya like your music. Doubt I’ll upgrade that but never know, down the line.

Pretty much what I would have said. I rarely drive with my windows open, and don't have a sunroof, so it sounds like that helps a lot. I'm not blown away by it, but I wouldn't bother upgrading it.
