I was using adaptive cruise today in traffic. At slower speeds, I kept hearing a grinding kind of noise right when the brakes engaged.

the brakes otherwise don’t make noise when I’m not driving with adaptive cruise. Has anybody experienced this brake noise while using ACC?

Finally validated, I'm not crazy. Mine has been doing it since the drive home from the dealership. Anyone know what that noise is exactly?

Not for nothin’... But just because others here some alleged noise does not bolster the case for your sanity ;););)

So this time I re-read the original post and paid a little more attention - are you using the ACC in bumper to bumper traffic or just slightly faster? I have a ’17 and don’t have the slow speed option

I get it in bumper to bumper. The sound is like really rusted rotors at slow speed but louder. A really gritty sound.

It's normal, my Platinum did it, my Raptor does it, and my wife's Explorer does it.
The owners manual says it's normal.

Mine does this too. I asked the dealer to check it out at the first oil change and they said its normal. Its weird, my other car with ACC doesn't do this. Just how they designed the system I guess.
