Has anyone just went to an exhaust or muffler shop and have them custom bend an exhaust/“H-Pipe” for their truck? I’m just trying to see if would be more economical to do the muffler delete this way instead of buying per se an AWE 2FG for close to $500. I understand that it will be welded on and permanent but I would keep the stock muffler and put it back if needed or I didn’t like how it sounded. Your thoughts or people who have done it?

I recommend the AWE 2FG exhaust. That’s what I installed.

Buy from a vendor on FRF and save some $$

I have reached out to several on here, $485 shipped was the cheapest quoted. I understand it’s quality and a great product but my shop is also quality as I have had my Chevy truck done and my Rat Rod Kustom done by him. Just wondering if anyone else has gone that route and was happy with the result.

I had the stock unit cut off and had shop weld on two 4" round magnaflows. Sounds about as good as a V6 can with NO rasp at all. From video clips "for what those are worth" sounds very similar to awe set up.

Cost me 180.00 for the 2 mufflers and 65 for shop work.

Thanks! That’s what I was waiting for in response. Do you remember what kind or the stock number for the Magnaflows? I’m still debating wether or not straight piped out sans muffler or adding something similar to what you did.

Don't waste your money or time. I've heard every exhaust and exhaust mod on Gen 2s...They all sound like crap. I had a buddy go through 3 exhausts to finally put the OEM back on. The Gen2 are awesome, but they sound like shit and nothing will change that.

I agree none of them sound great. At the end of the day I think anyone looking at exhaust has to remember its not a V8 and never will be. No matter how u cut it or what combo u try, it will always sound like some version of a fast and furious V6. Some raspy, some deeper, and some in between.

Personally, I'm pushing 40. So I wasn't looking to make mine as loud as possible, get looks, or draw attention. I just wanted to be able to hear it go thru the rev range. I could sorta feel thru the pedal. But I like to hear it. So that was the reason I chose to swap the stock out and settled for what was acceptable to my ear.

However if i was simply swapping to try and get something close to that hot rod rally truck sound... id save my money!! Unless you come from a back ground of fast and furious 4's and 6's and like that sort of sound!

I agree with all of the above. Like both of you stated, I know it is a V-6 and will never sound like a V-8. Never been into imports. Honestly, the stock exhaust isn’t bad really. I am also 40 and not looking for anything super loud or droning as I have kids and a wife and they are not gonna put up with that. I was looking for something that had a little bit more sound than stock WITHOUT the rasp or drone.

Was just trying to see if others had tried this option as I think it’s stupid to spend $500+ on a little bit more sound, no performance gains as comparable to $150-$200 at my shop. Still mulling it over, not fully sold just yet over stock. Thanks for the input!

Just to make sure everyone understands, I’m the guy that thinks most of the “performance” mods for this truck are a waste of money except for a tune. I have things for longevity and sustainability of the truck and power like aftermarket IC and catch can etc. I don’t have an CAI or BOV or other BS. Again, just trying to see if people had good results at a muffler/exhaust shop in comparison as the AWE 2FG has been the best sounding IMHO. Sounds stock still just a little bit louder.
