When I did the off-road “washboard” run at the Raptor course in Utah, I remember there was an ideal speed to go over certain types of bumps. Some of them we went over at like 32-35 mph and it smoothed them out nicely. Faster the better. :)

Today I got a chance to run on a construction road that was just put in because they are replacing a long run of those gigantic high tension poles with new ones. Nobody around with the holiday. I can't believe what a totally different class this suspension is in compared to anything I've driven, or ridden in, off road before. Stuff that would have really jammed my Silverado and probably made me hit my head on the roof, you don't even notice. It just glides over like nothing is there. Reminds me of the old days racing dirt bikes when we went from 5-6" of travel to 13". I also was surprised how there is almost no side to side pitch or head toss. I always thought everything did that running off road, apparently not! I'm still taking it somewhat easy with the engine since it's not even fully broken in yet, but damn it's nice!

Now I have to get more seat time and play with the modes. I just ran in "Normal" today, some time in 2WD, some times in 4A, and 4HI and it was awesome. I'll have to sneak back when I can and try out the other modes. It's really tough to find stuff like this around here.

I learned far too late to try the modes and if you have a 2019/2020 it makes an even bigger difference thanks to the live suspension. I used to run in normal mode to keep the engine from running so high when going down fire roads at 50+ MPH when 4WD wasn’t required. It would be pretty rough. Like you said, with this truck can just glide over massive obstacles.

I am not a Ford fan so I drove every other new truck out there and the Raptor is in a league of its own.

Baja mode is now my favorite in addition to manual shifting to keep the engine from holding too high of RPM’s when it’s not needed. At RA, they said Baja let’s you get the most sideways which is always fun.

I had a twenty mile run over a Mtn pass South of Tucson. All dirt road with long section of wash board. My 2020 ran true and did not kick out. Best part was watching the Wranglers and Rubicons take the road at 10-20 mph while I blew past them feeling like I was in a Caddy. This is one amazing vehicle.

I'm feeling kinda similar to "Oldfart".... although my last truck was a Gen1 2012 Raptor and I loved the truck...it was a beast, I do indeed notice a distinct difference in suspension. Far more comfortable ride in this Gen2 than the Gen1 on rough roads. One issue I do have however is the choppiness I get when driving over washboard bumps. The ass end of the truck struggles to stay grounded and I find that I am not liking that part of the offroading experience. I spend a lot of time in the Northern Maine wilderness, particularly on logging roads and off the beaten track trails and find that other than the washboard bumps, this truck is awesome!! I've installed the Eibach pro lift kit in the front and now am considering the Icons for the back. My reasons are twofold..... I do find that the truck sits a touch "nose high" now, and the concern of that washboarding effect. Anyone have any experience with washboard bumps and Icon rears?? Do the Icons help smooth out the washboard bounce??

The Icons will help but will not eliminate the bouncing. I would recommend adding some weight in the rear and increasing your speed with a leaf pack and you will have a different quality of ride and experience.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I’ll have to try this Baja mode when I hit the woods next weekend. Sport mode was fun this weekend...just don’t care much for the shifting points in that mode. So Baja mode is even more responsive than sport mode?? Good lord this is gonna be fun!!!
