Also depends on the dealer. I've had dealers that were pretty cool about saying there was no mods on the car to the warranty claims office if it is a completely separate issue, i.e. window switch broken etc.

Exactly. Thee needs to be correlation between the failure and modification in order for the warranty to be affected.

To clarify, Ford Performance products do not void the manufacturer’s warranty; they are just covered separately under their own warranty. Here are the details:

So just got off the phone with my local service tech. According to him, as long as the tune/modification is installed by them there should be no issues with warranty Planning on droping an MPT tune in. Nothing in writing though so what do you guys think? Sorry about the thread jack.

anyone with any common sense should be aware......modify any part of your car, and you should expect to forgo your warranty coverage for parts related to your change. The dealer has every right to do so. There is very little you can do to "hide" your modifications.

Those who get upset when warrenties are denied have nothing to be upset about. It is a risk we all take.

There is no way to hide flashing of the ECM. No amount of ignition cycles will hide the time stamp. If the ECM time stamp does not match what ford has, you are busted. They cant tell what you did to the software, but the know you did something, and that is enough. When you bought the vehicle, you signed an EULA for the software in the car and agreed you would not modify it. PERIOD.

Yeah official Ford Performance products should NOT void the warranty. I plan to keep mine stock but it shouldn't void the warranty if you add a FPP exhaust to your truck. I have to say the stock exhaust on these trucks sound bad very bad.

That is completely incorrect information from that technician/dealership.

If you experience any powertrain related issue/failure than can be attributed to the aftermarket calibration, it will not be warrantable.

If it is a significant failure, like a melted piston, rod through the block, etc Ford will often dispatch a Field Service Engineer our to inspect the vehicle. At that point they will determine the failure is non-warrantable due to the aftermarket calibration.

Tuning your engine is a kiss goodbye to your drivetrain warranty. People deep down know this, but choose to ignore it or pretend it isn't the truth for some odd reason. Case in point.
