Hey all I've been lurking for sometime now and have been wanting a gen 1 for a while now. There's a 2012 I'm considering that looks immaculate but the carfax history states the tranny was rebuilt recently. I'm wondering if if had to do with that 2011-2012 recall however just want to see if anyone has any insight on rebuilt trannys for the gen 1. Should I have any concerns or is the tranny good as new now?

If it was part of a recall, I can look it up if you provide the VIN.

I had mine done on warranty at 88,000... Converter fell apart, apparently its not uncommon with extra HP. If I would have known about the Circle D billet converter, I would have upgraded at that time.
I would not be afraid to buy a truck that's had the trans done already... Does it state who/where it was done?

Oh ok. It looks like it's been in Vegas it's whole life and was serviced at the Gaudin Ford dealership.

New trans should come with a warranty, so I tend to think of that as a bonus not a negative.

Yeah I would think so too. Just wanted to see if anyone knows any more insight on these Gen 1 transmissions and concerns because search doesn't really come up with much.

Here's the VIN: 1FTFW1R67CFC80006

Transmission was repaired at Gaudin Ford 3/23/2020 at 120551 miles. Customer concern was intermittent rough shifts.

Technician found no DTCs. Fluid was full but dark in color. Technician road tested vehicle and found hard shifts from 3-4, 4-5, and 5-6. Performed TSB 14-0217; found front pump assembly failed. Removed transmission from vehicle for tear down. Found Overdrive and Direct clutches burnt and forward clutch heat spotted. Cleaned all parts, overhauled Trans and valve body, air checked clutch assemblies. Flushed cooler and lines. Re-used converter. Replaced necessary hardware, set fluid level, pressure washed, road tested 16 miles.

I would be concerned if this tranny had a history of issues...but it doesn’t, in fact it’s just about as bullet proof as the 6.2. So basically you have a brand new tranny that you’ll likely never have to touch.
