Sounds to me like the OP got the 801A package without the remote start option and now wants to add it by buying a four-button key/remote and tweaking the system with forscan. Interesting idea. It's going to cost almost as much as buying it initially.

Yes, genius. I’m sure. It’s my truck. It’s an 801A, and has remote start on the key fob.

Do you think I imagined it working because you found something on the internet that says it’s an included feature in another package?

The truck I am awaiting delivery of is 801A and I wanted remote start like Gun Monkey so I had to option it. I could have just used the app for remote start but you CANNOT use a fob unless you pay the dealer to install the components after delivery or order it from the factory.

Sounds about right to me. It’s pretty cut and dry. However you can install the components yourself if one wanted to, if not equipped from the factory. But that’s also common knowledge.

Had remote start added to a 2012 Explorer by the dealer back in 2012. $450.00 to purchase and activate 2 new Fobs with the remote start function.

it seems 801A in 2020 comes with remote start now. In previous years it did not but allowed one to purchase it as a stand alone option:

It's still an option, I just paid $195 for it on my 2020 801A. What you highlighted is the remote lock/unlock/panic keyfob, which is standard.

Yup, when I ordered my 2020 801A I had to check the box to add Remote Start too for an additional $195.

You are correct sir. I was reading it too quickly. Remote Start is an $195 option with the 801A package
