I searched for this issue but didn't see anything. I hope it's not a repeat. I have a 2019 Raptor with 11K miles. Most of my driving is surface streets between home and office. A couple of months ago I was on the highway and when I am bearing left on a curve my steering wheel will stick. If I let go of it the truck will keep veering left. Sometimes it releases easily and sometimes it takes a bit of a tug on the wheel to break it loose. It's definitely not right and I'm afraid it's going to catch someone by surprise and cause an accident. I took it to the service department two weeks ago and the SA noticed the issue but didn't find a cause. He said that he reprogrammed the computer and did an alignment. It seemed like it was better for a short time (may not have been) but now I notice it again. Anyone else experience this? Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Dave

Not to ask a stupid question, but do you have the Raptor Technology Package option. If so, are you using the "lane departure" feature? It will fight you during a lane change unless you use your turn indicator. It will also try to steer the truck, following the lane stripes on the road.

Exactly the first thought that came to my mind. Lane Keep Assist will try and correct the vehicle's based on detectable lane markings; it is certainly a unique feeling the first few times it happens.

Sorry for the misleading title! I wish it were a cool mod!

Yes, I have the technology package and no, I do not have the lane assist engaged when this is happening - good thought though. In fact, it feels similar to when you grab the wheel while in lane assist - sort of like you're fighting the steering. It only happens in one spot when veering to the left. I'm going to get it back to the dealer this week. Thanks!

Gunk in the steering rack? Doesn't seem likely with only 11K miles on the truck, but you might try draining and replacing your power steering fluid. It is neither difficult to do nor expensive, and it would eliminate a possibility. (After draining and refilling with new spec tranny fluid (consult your owner's manual), burp the air out of the rack by repeatedly turning the steering wheel from lock to lock.)

All 2015+ F-150s have Electric a Power Steering (EPAS). No fluid to service.

I am just starting to notice that same issue on my truck. 18' with 45K. Its only occurring when I am at 50+ and wheel is in the 2 o'clock position. I thought it might be the 37's messing with the steering. Didn't even think about the steering being electric. It feels like a worn spot on a linear slide. Almost like its binding. I'm planning on crawling under this weekend to see if there is anything obvious.
