I run the K&N on my truck. I really enjoy it and don't have any problems with it. It's not as sexy of a choice as some of the others but it gets the job done. Some of the reasons I chose it:

-Price couldn't be beat
-100k filter life (obviously less if you properly off-road)
-unlike some of the competition, K&N provides Dyno results showing the power and torque gains. (Mind you its on a stock 3.5 EB and not a HO 3.5 EB so take it with a grain of salt)
-provides a lot of turbo whirl even at low boost

Must have over tightened my AFE, tho they are sending me a warranty replacement. I may need to get some better clAmps..

I recently installed AFE's Momentum GT Cold Air Intake System w/Pro 5R Filter in my 2020 Raptor and I feel it has given me a bit of extra power. But before I go into the details of the power, I am still a bit worried about having it installed on my Raptor. Thankfully, everything seems to look normal from an engine management standpoint, meaning no CEL's or overheating issues.



The only thing I am afraid is if I installed it incorrectly or if some of the noises I've been hearing lately are normal. This is the first time I've installed an CAI on any vehicle, let alone a Raptor. I installed it myself with very light mechanic skills.

The sounds I'm hearing might have always been there and I may be paying more attention to it now since I get worried about things like this.

The sound is kinda like a whistle and it happens above 70-MPH - a very light whistle sound. I don't know if that's the intake or the turbo spinning. Either way, I'm just worried that it could be something wrong.

If anyone on here has the same intake as me, please let me know your thoughts and feedback.

Just want to get this monkey off my back so I can go enjoy it more.

Oh - as far as the power, it definitely seems to help move my 37s a bit better than when I had the stock CAI.

That whistle is your turbo for sure. Usually the aftermarket intakes allow you to hear more sounds of your turbo!! Seems like you did a good job! Enjoy it!

I put on the K&N Cold Air intake 63-2599 last night. As with most things working on my car, it takes 2-3 times as long as it should. Regardless, I was finished in an hour and a half. Install was okay, besides having to lightly lube the sensor when putting it through the grommet to help it slide a bit easier. Also, lining up the 3 attachment points with the hoses and hose clamps and making sure everything was sealed took a bit of time because there wasn’t a lot of extra length on the K&N plastic tube.

Impressions: after driving about 75 miles in 24 hours or so, acceleration feels a touch smoother and engine seems slightly more eager. Could be physiological. Sound is a bit less noticeable than expected. You can hear a bit more turbo whistle cruising around at light boost loads. When you floor it or do heavier acceleration, the exhaust and fake engine noise through the speakers seems to overpower the intake sound.

All in all, I’m happy with the purchase. I’ve put a lot of K&N cold air intakes on cars with good success with all of them. It’s a good intake for a good price IMO.

For all you guys running aftermarket CAIs without catch cans, have you noticed any oil buildup in your intake tract or on your air filter from the PCV?

it might not flow like some of the others, but it is hands down the best filter for your raptor if you seriously offroad it.

Filter is dry and rated for 100K on road miles.

I put a fresh filter on before every desert run. I might shake it out a couple times, but usually dont have to replace it. By comparison, There are guys that have to bring a new air filter for every day of the trip.

I highly recommend avoiding oiled filters at all costs, regardless of what intake you get.

I agree with this 100%. Oiled filters allow too much dust into the intake air, and the oil that gets stripped off isn’t good for the turbos. I haven’t found a better filter media than Donaldson. The 6” diameter filter on their Raptor kit seems a bit small for the twin turbo setup, the one in my Cummins truck is 8”.

The stock filter on the F-250 diesel trucks was (and may still be) made by Donaldson. If possible I’ll look into retrofitting one of those as they are good sized.
