Too much torque is not the issue.
People doing burn outs on pavement and getting wheel hop, or driving locked on the street and taking tight turns is a problem.
Like Dave said, it was more to function with all the electronics more than a durability deal.
Im 625HP/640 TQ and run mine locked whenever im in the dirt.
