Pics? It seems like it would be more complicated than '5 minutes', with the air intake tubes, radiator hose routing, etc. But...maybe I'm over-analyzing this. I haven't found a good video/pic essay on doing this on the 3.5 L Ecoboost. I put a cooler t'stat in my Tacoma when I put the TRD supercharger on, and nearly never get knocking, even when on trails. Would like to see my E-boost 10-15 degrees cooler as well. Or if you know where a good write up with pics (or vid is) and can share the link(s)...



Which one are you planning on going with? I don't know which one to get. haha

Yes! 170 is a bit too cool for the interior heater to work well. 180 is perfect IF you set the various grill & intercooler shutter, fans, and several other cross-over points in the tune to account for the cooler engine temps. The factory Desired Operating Temp is 210 degF

Thank you. I was thinking same thing especially during winter time here when it drops well below zero. I just dont feel like changing thermostat before every winter and like you said 180° one should be perfect for all seasons here.

Over the weekend I was out in the mojave desert and lost a radiator fan blade into the radiator. So I am now ordering a Full Race radiator and oil cooler. With the additional cooling of the radiator you guys think I'll be ok with a 170 thermostat still or should I go back to the stock thermostat? I'm in southern california. Thanks!

Your truck will not run magically cooler with the full race units - better? Probably but if you go back to the 195 thermostat your normal operating temp will be 210ish. I'd stick with the 170.

170 is fine. I run the spd 170, FR radiator and FR Trans cooler. I really dont drive my truck anyplace but az/socal/desert/mexico.
