So on a slightly serious note for a moment, there are many, many to whom 1500 dollars is the same as 15 dollars to you and me. I may have mentioned this before but I have a close friend for the past 50 years who has done very well buying and selling commercial real estate in NYC. When his wife unexpectedly passed away a few years back after a few month battle with cancer she had about $20 million in savings and probably another 10 in life insurance.

He lives in a 7500 sq ft home that is really beautiful. They built it right before she died. He’s incredibly generous and giving. But he drives a new Lincoln Navigator. Buys a new one every other year and gives the “old” one away to a needy family.

he likes to gamble and thinks nothing of risking 10 grand on football each weekend.

so you tell me, what’s a 1500 dollar plate frame if he were to want it, which he never would. It’s the same as my having recently foolishly bought a CF grill for my M5 for 900, the CF A pillar covers for 149, etc.

it’s all relative I guess.

TOTALLY agree..!!
Read a story about Bill Gates years ago,(still have in my office)and it still amazes me that it isnt worth his time to stop and pick up a $100 bill..or was it a $500 bill..!!

Funny you should say that. I make a decent living but during this pandemic my work dried up for a while. it's every so slowly coming back. I'm probably down about 80k in income in the past month and a half. My wife says you can't lose what you never had. And she always says "It's only money, honey." That's why we are married 39 years.

But I recently saw a line of people at a recently reopened Starbucks. Now I'm not a big coffee drinker and I rarely go there. Once in a while I'll stop for a cappuccino. I have my own machine though. But when I saw the line, my famous line is "I wouldn't wait on an hour long line if they were giving out hundred dollar bills." Sad part, I guess, is I mean it. May make me sound like an ahole, but time is money and my time is more valuable to me.

Now I'm not saying there aren't poor people starving because of this pandemic, but when I see on the news hours' long lines for free food, a lot of it is people lining up for something for free.
