Hey guys,

I've been trying to track down this loud chirping metallic sound I am getting from my front drivers side suspension. It only happens when I go over a very large bump, or over potholes which makes my suspension compress/decompress quickly. The sound is isolated to the front drivers suspension, and I can only hear it when the windows are down, but it is quite loud. It deeper than a small chirp, and has more of a metallic clank to it. I've tried replicating the sound by shaking my truck when parked, but it only occurs when driving.

I've tried greasing up my front suspension bushings, and made sure every bolt was torqued down properly, including the lower shock bolt to 406lb/ft. . I did have my shocks rebuilt less than 5k miles ago, and am running Geiser progressive springs at mid-perch. I'm also running 35" Falken Wildpeak MT/s at 38 PSI.

Any thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all.

I had a freshly rebuilt shock go bad and start clunking.

It's actually being fixed at the moment, so I can't tell you what happened yet, that's what it was - WAY less than 5K on it, more like 250.

Were your bushings replaced during the rebuild?

Damn, hope the issue is resolved soon. I don't have any clunking, and I can't hear the chirping at all when the window is up, nor do I feel anything type of clunk. Just driving with the window down gets annoying because of the noise.

My bushings were replaced with spherical bearings when I had them rebuilt. Think those could be the culprit?

Hmmm, that seems like a good an idea as any.
I've had a loose steering rack - but that was more of a clunk feel than what you are describing.

Could very well be the spherical bearings transmitting noise, spherical bearings are not good if you want quiet... racecar stuff is going to make racecar sounds. It could also be the spring isolator pad at the top of the spring.

Yeah, it may just be the bearing, but it doesn't occur on the passenger side, which is strange. I'll check the spring isolator tab as well. I appreciate the suggestion!
