Are tunes available for the 2020's yet? Also is there a breakdown of the devices/recommendations? Looks like on your site you offer NGuage, Bully Dog and SCT devices. What are the pros/cons of each? Are the tunes the same on each?

Also do your tunes include TCM improvements or just ECU?

Cobb just released theirs for the 2020.

Saw that, from what I've seen online the 5 Star has had better performance gains though. COBB also has a video they did with a real customer and the dude did not seem like he noticed ANY improvements, so that's kind of made my shy away a bit.


I see you're from Kansas, that's my original home (Stilwell/Overland Park) I'm in Oklahoma now. EMAW

I have been very happy with the Cobb Stage 2 on my '19. The addition of the TCM tune was the icing on the cake.

I have never heard of Overland Park. ;)

I see a lot of owners running Cobb, but I have my reservations. I would rather run custom 5star devices. Previous truck was running the SCT livewire. Any advice on the actual tuner that pairs best with 5star?

Anyone know of a group buy for forum members? Before someone says it... Yes I searched, search had a link from 2017 that was old.

I have experience with 5Star, MPT, and Cobb. Of the Gen 2 Raptor tuning providers, I would consider 5Star to be at the bottom of the list, if not on the bottom. Cobb is at the top of the list. To include their TCM tune requires a bit more money up front, BUT you will be supremely happy with their tunes and the AccessPort device. Their OTS tunes always leave plenty of safety margin, so you won't break anything. If you think the other tuners provide "more power", you're very wrong. If you want to cut the safety margin thinner, then a custom tune from one of the Cobb Pro Tuners, or your own tuning is the way to go.

FYI, I have over a decade of Cobb "private" tuning experience on Ford and Mazda. I generally start with the hottest tune Cobb has, run it a bit and data log my parameters list to see where the critical values are, then do a few tweaks of my own. My fully stock 2018 802A (with my Cobb tune only) runs 0-60 in 4.7 sec, 60ft in 1.9, 1/4 mile in 13.3 @ 102mph. You will NOT get better results than that with any OTS tune from any tuner. The only way to get better results is to replace the turbos and go BIG.

Edit: Just a side note, I have 47000 tuned miles on it, so no loss of performance with mileage as one of the popular car rags reported.

TwizzleStix. Just ordered Cobb Stage 1 for 2020 SCrew. How do you get sub 5aecond time in 0-60?

The right tune and launch technique. Sport mode, Adv Track OFF, 4Auto, Rear diff locked, brake-boost build to final at WOT for ~ 1 sec, release brake, hold on and keep it pointed straight...

No wheel spin allowed, so make sure the tires are clean and hot. I usually drive several miles at highway speeds (in 4Auto) to get everything up to temp, so there's minimum fluid drag.

If you're using a non GPS-based device, ANY wheel spin is counted as forward motion and shortens the time, so ZERO wheel spin is a must for accurate time. I also recommend running the truck at 60 mph and compare to a GPS navigation device (like Garmin, etc.) to make sure the speedo is accurate as well. You can adjust the tire size with the AP to calibrate the speedo.

A GPS device like the Draggy doesn't care, it measures the actual time in motion vs the actual speed. The Draggy can apply the 1 foot rollout subtraction as well for pretty accurate (less than 1/10 difference) drag strip times.

The OEM setup reads faster than actual, so the 0-60 time will show to be several tenths quicker than actual until you get the speedo accurate. If you do the diameter calculation for the OEM tire 315/70x17, it is 34.36". The actual effective "rolling" diameter is ~32.9". The rolling diameter is less than calculated because the rolling is affected by the sidewall sag (weight on tire) and the tire pressure.

I've found for my particular setup that 32.9" results in the most accurate speedo readings that match both Garmin and Draggy results. All things being equal, increasing the tire diameter value results in increasing the indicated speed, whereas decreasing the tire diameter value results in decreasing the indicated speed.

Note that there are several folks running sub-5 second times on here, but I can't comment on their measurements, setup, or technique.

Hands down it's Cobb for the best hardware and tune. Make sure you add the TCM reflash too.

Will someone from 5 Star Tuning chime in? I have a JDM Engineering tune and found that it works really nicely. They tune the engine ecu and the transmission ecu. Not sure about what others are doing...My previous tune, not going to blast..was crappy, the dude did not modify the transmission ecu, popped ck engine light and slammed the transmission at wot 55mph...LMK....Thanks for any information...trying to help out...
